Annual Scholarship Program

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Rotary Club of Pike County is part of the worldwide Rotary International SERVICE organization. For many years, our club has given special emphasis to programs for the youth of our county and in encouraging them to further their education through our scholarship program.

Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually to graduates of Pike County schools.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

- The student must be a senior, who meets the school criteria for graduation

- Must currently be attending school, public or private, in Pike County

TO APPLY

Obtain an application form from the Guidance Office, complete it and return it, with the following items to The Pike County Rotary Club before March 15, 2010.

- List your involvement in community service

- List your participation in extracurricular activities

- Provide a copy of your ACT scores

- Provide one letter of recommendation from the high school Administrator, Guidance Counselor or faculty member

- Provide one letter of recommendation from a member of their community at large

i.e. your employer, pastor, etc.

- Provide a copy of your GPA as of March 1st of the current school year

HOW THE SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE AWARDED

Scholarship recipients are selected by a Scholarship Committee composed of Pike County Rotary Club members. Academic achievement, service to others and personal character are important considerations.

HOW THE SCHOLARSHIP IS PAID

The scholarship recipient must present a statement from the college, university, or technical school showing their enrollment status to receive payment of the scholarship award. A check will be made payable to the school and to the student.

In the event that the scholarship recipient withdraws from school prior to the end of the quarter or semester, the scholarship award is forfeited and the student will be expected to return the scholarship award.
