About The OHSAA Foundation

The Pride Challenge provides an opportunity for member schools to participate in a community service project, as well as a platform to highlight community service activities the schools participate in throughout the year. The Pride Challenge is highlighted by a “Pride Scrimmage,” such as the event you are attending today. Pride Scrimmages do not count toward the participating teams’ overall record.

Participating schools were required to select a community service project(s). Waverly-Shell Rock High School cleaned the athletic storage rooms, trophy cases, gyms, weight room and other athletic areas.

Kee High School spent a morning giving their two gyms in Lansing and their fitness center a thorough cleaning. The girls spent time getting equipment areas cleaned out and organized, bleachers washed up and backboards nice and clean. Our gyms are frequently used by different community groups, so this was a helpful project to help us show our athletes and community members we care about our facilities. In the fitness center, our girls cleaned floors, equipment, windows and mats, along with organizing various equipment that is housed there. Our fitness center is where our teams go and lift and get in plyo work, where baseball and softball work on pitching and hitting, and where some of our physical education classes spend their time.

As part of the Pride Scrimmage, the host school makes a $250 contribution to the Richard Jacobson Education Fund at the Iowa Hall of Pride, which will be used to fulfill their mission to “education the future” through their educational programs and work with students and schools across the state.

Get involved and make a difference in your community!

Iowans always rise to the challenge….the Pride Challenge!
