Setting up custom tabs for reduced file size when scanning documents into eCW.

The first step in creating a custom scan setting is to click the document band on the left, highlighted in red.

Next, click on the Patient Document Icon, highlighted in red.

Make sure that Show Scan UI is checked, then click the Scan button.

The first thing we will need to do is delete all pre defined settings. Click on the Config… button

Select a setting file by clicking on the drop down arrow then, click the delete button. Do this for all the pre defined settings.

Next you want to create your own custom setting. Exit out of the Configuration setting by clicking on ok.

Resolution, Scan Type, Paper Size, Image Mode, Brightness, and Contrast are the configuration categories to focus on. For this example, we will be using the Drivers License/ Insurance Card setting.

Resolution: 400 x 400

Scan Type: ADF (Duplex)

Paper Size: A6L (148 x 105mm)

Image Mode: Black & White

Brightness: 60

Contrast: 60

Attached at the end of the manual is a spreadsheet with the different types of papers and settings that one should use based on the type of job that is being performed.

Configure your setting as below. Once you have made your setting changes, you will want to save them as a configuration setting for future use. Click on the config.. button

A window titled Configuration appears, then click on the Add button.

You will be prompted to name the configuration setting. You will name it by the format:

Name of Setting

For example, Pediatric, having created a scan setting for Drivers License/ Insurance card, would name it as follows:

Drivers License Ins Card

Add this in both fields, and click ok.

After you have added the Configuration setting, you will be able to select it from the drop down list when scanning similar documents in the future.

In this example we have selected the Driver License Ins Card setting.

Attention:

• The only modification you should ever need to make would be to contrast and/or brightness depending on the type of insurance card or ID given.

• This would apply to any setting configuration settings that you have created.

• Only create the settings that are needed based on your providers’ needs or the type of documents you scan.

• These settings only affect the computer on which it was created on, so you will need to create them on each computer that handles document scanning at your facility.
