PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:The position is responsible for working directly with children’s parents/caregivers to fulfill the mission of CP Birth to School: To prepare our future students for school success and lifelong learning by providing a system of support to caregivers that connects families to our schools from birth, encourages understanding of child development, and increases quality interactions with children.QUALIFICATIONS:EXPERIENCEBackground in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Social Work preferredAssociates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferredExperience working with children and familiesUnderstanding of developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant practices for newborns-5 year olds and their familiesINTERPERSONAL SKILLSStrong interpersonal and communication skills in writing, speaking, and listeningAble to build supportive relationships with familiesExcellent people skills and able to work with diverse school and community groupsProfessionalism in judgement, ethics, and all aspects of job performanceHigh degree of empathyAble to effectively present to large and small groupsANALYTICAL SKILLSAble to process, sort, and understand new informationCapable at research and learning new conceptsPersistent and creative problem-solverEnjoys learning and sharing informationORGANIZATIONAL SKILLSEffective time-management skillsAble to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesAble to manage a variety of eventsTECHNICAL SKILLSTechnology proficient using computers and mobile devicesCan efficiently use or learn to use Google Docs, Forms, Sheets, and SlidesAble to learn new software and assist families with technologyDescription of PositionPromote CP Birth to School at Solon Robinson and Timothy Ball Elementary Schools and in the related and extended community (via flyers, posters, phone calls, community agencies).Enroll children in CP Birth to School.Assess needs of families and provide support by sharing information, monitoring success, and conducting home visits.Connect families with resources and community agencies.Maintain information and contacts from local community agencies and services.Assist families with the CP Birth to School Learning Portal and additional technology as needed.Coordinate and administer developmental screenings for children 0-5.Work with Program Coordinator to develop and deliver child development workshop content.Work with Program Coordinator to plan and execute community events.Facilitate monthly playgroups and parent cafes, including “start to finish” tasks.Collaborate with volunteers and staff to plan early learning activities.Work collaboratively with community stakeholders to actively advocate on behalf of CPCSC children and families.Prepare and distribute informational program materials.Ensure programs are accessible, effective, and culturally relevant, placing priority on serving children and families with the greatest needs.Conduct various administrative duties as needed or directed.Maintain child and caregiver safety/security throughout programs and events.ADA Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee/contractor to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
