NOTE: Otter Valley will be hosting a trap shooting event for Bradken employees Sat. Aug. 20th

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

GENERAL

Thanks to all that attended the Sat. Apr 16th cleanup day in preparation for the annual Trout Derby. The sporting clays course, pond area, and ranges have all been tidied up, and the power line cleared. It is up to all that use our facilities to clean up after them selves. Please pick up your empties and remove targets & garbage – there are containers available.

Bud Taylor and crew are to be congratulated on another fine Trout Derby – reports of a great turn out, lots of fish and fun. The derby is held each year on or around the 4th Saturday in April and typically runs from 10:00 am until approximately 1:00 pm. Watch for the date and try to get out next year.

There have been reports of people shooting at targets other than paper and not on the designated ranges. It is absolutely not allowed to shoot from any location other than a designated firing line. The only exception to paper targets is for cowboy action shooting, at their approved targets, on their approved range – handgun cartridges and lead bullets only!

The CFO has approved the proposed shotgun patterning board plans. There will be definite markers (likely patio stones) placed at designated distances such as 20, 30, & 40 yards from the target board. Shooting only from these designated firing lines is a CFO requirement for approval.

All shooters must sign in when shooting on any range, the indoor book remains on the pistol range, the out door book is located at the cowboy action range pavilion. Signed score sheets for trap or sporting clays are acceptable alternatives.

The red flag located at the corner of the cowboy action storage shed must be raised whenever shooting on any outdoor range. The adjacent “RANGE IN USE” sign must also be opened when shooting on outdoor ranges.

Handgun calibers and lead bullets only on the pistol ranges – indoors and outdoors. Jacketed handgun ammo to be shot at paper targets only, and while seated at the benchrest to 50/100/200 target boards only. Indoor range limited to lead only, 1000 fps or less.

SPORTING CLAYS [pic]

After a considerable amount of work by John, Adam, Andrew and a few others, the CFO mandated course redesign is now complete and approved. The layout is once again a full 10 stations and approval for 5 additional alternate stations has also been obtained. Shoot dates as follows; remember to confirm them on the black board in the clubhouse.

June 19 July 17 & 31 August 7 & 21 September 4 & 18

Section contacts: John - 519 / 773 - 3732 Andrew – 519 / 303 - 0515

HANDGUN

Tuesday evenings are averaging 4 to 6 handgun shooters – not sure where the other 25 or more indoor members are, but it means there is lots of room available! My own attendance has been less than stellar, but I hope to improve that soon. This is a good core group of low-key recreational shooters. Indoor membership is not required to shoot on the indoor handgun range. Club members in good standing can shoot indoors for a $5.00 per night range fee. Dust off those ATT’s and come on out.

The handgun contact is Henry Atkinson (519) 842-2118

Glen Foster remains on as the executive representative for C/A.
