Payroll and Benefits Administrator

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join the Finance team to process payroll for the entire organization. This includes processing timesheets, tracking accruals, leaves, benefits and payroll tax deductions on a biweekly basis. This is a new position adding to the two staff currently processing payroll.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES ? Collects authorized timesheets and modified work agreements ? Calculates leave, overtime, pay and benefit entitlements using the payroll computer system ? Prepares and verifies statement of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions, such as payroll tax withholdings, insurance and pension plan payments ? Verify and complete government remittances ? Completes, verifies, and processes forms and documentation for administration of benefits, such as pension plans, leaves, employment and medical insurance ? Provides information to employees on payroll matters and benefit plans ? Compiles statistical reports, statements and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts ? Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to the General Ledger ? Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) for staff ? Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

? Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent ? Experience working in an office and as part of a team ? Canadian Payroll Association Certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager) preferred. ? On the job experience an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

? Knowledge of CRA payroll deduction requirements and payroll accounting ? Ability to reconcile accounts ? Understanding and able to perform account reconciliations ? Computer skills using payroll software and Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel); ability to prepare

spreadsheets, operate word processing programs and accounting software, as well as develop and use databases ? Previous knowledge of ADP Workforce Now an asset ? Excellent oral and written communication skills ? Detail-oriented with ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing, entering, and verifying financial

information ? Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files ? Ability to prioritize, manage time, and organize

? Ability to multi task and maintain focus despite interruptions ? Familiarity with office equipment including copiers, scanners, and printers ? Experience working independently, supervising others, and collaborating with a team ? Able to maintain high level of professional standards and work ethic WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS ? must be conducted every three years ? Located adjacent to an open office area, faced with regular interruptions and a number of deadlines ?
