We are living in a world of competition but most visible are job competition and it is getting tough every year. Dozens of jobs popped in online job portal and printed media which will give you a higher position offering good benefits and you know to yourself base on your experience that you will do best on that field but one thing is missing and that is a college degree. Managing your schedule and learning styles

Studying distance education through self pace requires patient, dedication, balancing your day to day activity and set specific time and place for study. As you moved forward and deeper in your studies, you will encounter a conflict between your studies, activity, works and family. It will caused delay in your study and some grades are failing. You will feel upset and frustrated with that situation but your dream keep you moving even in slow pace. I am studying Engineering Technology and those situations always occur and I am not exempted on that rules. I will share to you my learning styles on balancing studies between home life, work and school. You can follow my example or you modified it to suit your needs.

"Balancing my studies between of home life, work and school is often difficult for me. Having all those activities at once does not lead to a leisurely schedule, there's always something and/or lots of distractions and once that happened sometimes I lost my ideas in effect of that, missed some deadline on submittal, poor performance on my grades due to rush or running out of time in getting submission. I realized that these situations need to be improved and device some mechanism or new concept that could help me to come up and make my goal to stride but not affecting my family and work. Balancing Penn Foster studies with work, family, and other activities and responsibilities requires deep understanding to achieve my goal. It comes to my idea that the best thing to do is a better organizer and planning which I can utilize some features of my electronic gadget. Listing and sorting out my responsibilities, duties, and leisure activities was the first step to organizing and balancing my activities between studies and work. As an expatriate, a job has to be a priority first a bread and butter and it is fixed to 10 hours daily with one hour break and cannot be changed. I consider including my one hour break and utilizing the remaining half hour on my listing.

Included also are list for family events, personal and home activity including some chores and unexpected events. Invitation into social events from family friends will need some adjustments too. Weekends which usually takes a lot of activities and it is top on my list including company events, invitation from relatives and other gatherings to attend are also considered. The second step was categorizing and prioritizing, since all the necessary information is on my list. Sorting out these responsibilities falls into three different category namely flexible, important and urgent. With this system in hand, I have learned to prioritize things and that helps me to achieve my goals. The third step was analyzing the effect and outcome of the three categories, if it needs further adjustment on a weekly, daily basis or even from hour to hour and it depends on the urgency of the situation. This third step replicate from the system which my employer is implementing in the office and we are following that system in regards of submittal of construction drawings. The last step was creating a planner / schedule thru Microsoft Excel which is include all the shifts and upcoming assignments and exams. Printed copy has been posted in front of my study table and it saved also in my smart phone. I use Microsoft Excel to develop my own format user friendly calendar planner for time management. Accurate scheduling helps me to manage time efficiently whereby freeing up time to spend with my family. Some personal sacrifices are needed in order to inline with this schedule. A personal reminder has set thru my smart phone and it gives me a particular sound a day ahead before a deadline arises."
