“Lamb to the Slaughter” Police Report Activity

“Lamb to the Slaughter” Police Report Activity

Dahl’s short story is written in 3rd person limited omniscience- meaning that the narrator is set “back” from the story and describes the character’s actions, but only has the ability to “know” Mrs. Maloney’s thoughts.

- Your task is to create a companion story to “Lamb to the Slaughter” using a First Person Point of View. Imagine that you were one of the police officers called onto the crime scene at the Maloney residence. Remember, you are only creating this “police log” based on empirical evidence (what you see, what people are telling you, what you are looking for, etc.) YOU DO NOT have the knowledge that the reader does that Mrs. Maloney killed her husband with a frozen leg of lamb !!!

- Your log/report should be about 1 page in length and include 6 of the 10 vocabulary words in some way, shape or form. Underline or highlight the terms within the paragraph.

- Use the information in the text to create an authentic and detailed report.
