Job Title: Research Associate/Fellow

School/Department: Division of Infrastructure & Geomatics

Salary: £25,513 - £37,394 per annum, depending on skills and experience, (minimum £28,695 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Job Family and Level: Research & Teaching Level 4 RCT or 4

Contract Status: This full time post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2015.

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week

Location: Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering University Park, NG7 2RD

Reporting to: Dr. R. Briganti

The Purpose of the New Role:

To have specific responsibility for research, developing research objectives and proposals for a research project in the study of the effects of sequences of storms on beaches protected by coastal structures. The post holder will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, and will be responsible for writing up their work for publications and dissemination in project meetings. The role holder will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

| |develop new techniques and test them within the work package on coastal flood modelling. The role holder will collaborate | |

| |with other project partners within the scope of the work package and attend project meetings. | |

|2. |You will be required to keep accurate record (log books, simulations data, supporting data for publications etc) of your |5% |

|3. |You will be required to contribute to the publication of the research papers. |15% |

|4. |You will be required to liaise, collaborate and train with other co-workers, students, and visiting scientists in the |5% |

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Decision Making

i) taken independently by the role holder;

|Carrying out numerical simulations, data analysis and interpretation within the work package on coastal flooding. |

ii) taken in collaboration with others;

|Liaise and collaborate with project members in other institutions, exchange data and attend project meetings. |

iii) referred to the appropriate line manager by the role holder.
