African Palliative Care Nurses Scholarship Fund

Provides a limited number of scholarships each year for Palliative Care Training opportunities for nurses.

Scholarships are awarded up to a maximum of US$ 4,000 through a competitive application process once a year. APCA and FHSSA give priority to requests of Registered and Enrolled nurses to pursue formal palliative care training in Africa. They are also willing to potentially consider one scholarship for a distance Learning Masters programme, when necessary for the career objective of the student (i.e. Registered or Enrolled Nurse) and in line with palliative care development in Africa. Application requests will also be considered for travel for palliative care conferences judged to be of interest to the development of palliative care in Africa.

The British Academy is offering a range of research funding opportunities for the humanities and social sciences.

To be eligible you must be a female postgraduate student who commenced full time doctoral studies eg. PhD, DPhil, DMus etc. between September 1 2012 and October 31st 2013, or a part time student at an equivalent stage of her studies. You must be registered at a university in England, Wales or Scotland (not Northern Ireland). Awards are given to help with on-going doctoral work.

For students applying to the University of Cambridge there are a range of possible scholarships. Details can be found at admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/gradstud/funding/aid/oversea s.html.

The Chevening Scholarship Scheme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), targets the future generation of leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers early in their careers.

The scholarships are usually awarded to students intending to pursue one-year Master's degrees in any subject and at any UK university. The typical successful applicant will display both intellectual ability and leadership potential.

Applications are usually open between August and November each year and are submitted online exclusively through the Chevening website.

Churches Commission for International Students

This Hardship Fund was set up in 1990 by the Churches to assist international students, irrespective of their race, sex or religion, who face unexpected financial problems during the final stages of their degree course. Awards are normally made to those who can clearly show that a small grant will enable them to complete their course, normally those who are within six months of finishing

Up to 150 full masters scholarships and 70 scholarships for participation in training programmes are available each year from the CUD (Commission Universitaire pour le D?veloppement) to students from developing countries to study in Belgium. The David Montefiore Trust offers grants for students from third-world countries undertaking postgraduate study in the UK before returning to their own country. Grants, which range between ?500 and ?1,000, are in the form of a single payment in time for the start of the academic year.

One-off and recurring grants to students who are Egyptian or of Egyptian origin towards course fees, books, etc.

FfWG awards grants specifically for living expenses to Women, in their final fee paying or writing up year at postgraduate or postdoctoral level.

The criteria are the proven needs of the applicant and their academic calibre. For the academic year 2015 ? 2016 grants will only be given for a postgraduate doctoral award e.g. PhD or D.Phil . The amount of the Foundation Grant awarded will be decided by FfWG.

Applications are considered from students who have made proper provision to fund a degree or higher education course but find themselves facing unexpected financial difficulties which may prevent completion of it; also from students who are required, as part of their course, to spend a short period studying abroad. Applicants must be full-time students at a British University.
