SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER The Summit H i l l Band h e l d i t s t h i r d annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundr a i s e r on Saturday, April 27, 1996. The Summit H i l l and H i l d a Walker Bands, u n d e r t h e d i r e c t i o n of Mrs.

K i m Coughlin and M r . John Cryder, performed a t various times throughout the evening. A dinner of s a l ad, bread, s p a g h e t t i and meatballs, d r i n k s and cookies was served from 4 t o 8 PM. A p p r o x i m a t e l y $5,600 was r a i s e d t o support t h e band program f o r t h e upcoming y e a r .

Thanks t o a l l those parent volu n t e e r s who d o n a t e d t h e i r t i m e t o shop, cook spaghetti, s e t up, c l e a n up, and s e r v e and a b i g thank you, also, goes t o the student v o l u n t e e r s who h e l p e d t o s e r v e .

Her d e d i c a t i o n t o F r a n k f o r t was known and a p p r e c i a t e d by a l l who l i v e h e r e . SCHOOL DISTRICT 157-C NEWS Eighth grade students from Frankf o r t Junior High School participated i n s e v e r a l e v e n t s l e a d i n g up t o t h e i r graduation including "Shoot for the Stars," the eighth grade party, the annual field t r i p t o the G r e a t America Theme P a r k and a n award assembly. The graduation of t h e c l a s s of 153 s t u d e n t s was held May 31. C l a s s V a l e d i c t o r i a n was S a r a h Kus t o k and C l a s s S a l u t a t o r i a n was Mario C a r l a s a r e . The V;FW award was received by Sarah Kustok and Charlie Breedlove. The Frankfort J a y c e e s Award was r e c e i v e d by Michael Rizzuto and the Frankfort PTA p r e s e n t e d t h e V i o l a Lankenau Award t o Darcy P i a z z a . P r i n c i p a l John Loecke s t a t e d , "This was a

special year for the students. I congratulate them and a l s o t h a n k t h o s e t e a c h e r s and p a r e n t s who participated i n t h e i r success .'I

The Frankfort Board of Education was pleased t o a c c e p t a check f o r $1,000 from Liz Gerske, President of the Educational Foundation. It w i l l be used t o provide awardwinning reading materials f o r the d i s t r i c t l i b r a r i e s . The board was also pleased t o accept from outg o i n g PTA P r e s i d e n t K a t h y R o d i e , $5,000 t o provide pianos f o r both Chelsea and Grand P r a i r i e Schools, $1,600 f o r two computer microscopes, $150 f o r each of the four schools' Physical Education Departments, $500 f o r the eighth grade party, $500 f o r the A r t Department and approximately $3,000 f o r computer software f o r a l l schools. These donations were made p o s s i b l e t h r o u g h p a r t i c i p a t i o n by parents and community members i n Foundation and PTA programs and fund r a i s e r s . Thank you!

TROLLEY BARN SHOPS TO OPEN I t ' s coming t o Frankfort!!

I t ' s the T r o l l e y Barn.. .and i t i s opening i n July. Located i n downtown F r a n k f o r t ' s H i s t o r i c District, the Trolley Barn is r e m i n i s c e n t of t h e much v i s i t e d G r a i n e r y which burned many y e a r s ago. This newly renovated 1908 building once housed the t r o l l e y connecting J o l i e t t o Chicago, and s t i l l has the original "turn around'' apparatus on the second f l o o r . 30 YEARS OF SERVICE The Rojon School of Dog Obedience and Animal Resort i s celebrating its 30th anniversary. The school opened on J u l y 19, 1966 i n Oak Lawn, moved t o Mount Green wood and t h e n t o F r a n k f o r t i n 1974.
