ACT Persuasive Writing Essay Practice Tests

1) Go to

2) Click Test and Tutorials (GED, ACT, Careers, etc.) on the left side of the page.

3) It should say Welcome to Learning Express Library! If you have never used MEL, click on Register under New Users and go to step four. If you have used MEL before, then login normally to the homepage and skip to step five.

4) NEW USERS:

Register with the following items

Username: first initial, last name, birthyear

Mr. Becker would be mbecker1986

Password: make your password your 8 digit birthday

Mr. Becker’s would be 02091986 (For February 9th, 1986)

Email: IT IS NOT REQUIRED-IGNORE IT!

If you are doing this at home, you will need to enter your (or a parent’s) driver’s license number. If you are doing this on a school computer, this is not required.

5) After you are logged in, click the top left of the screen where it says Learning Express Library

6) On the left side of the page, click College Preparation

7) Click ACT Preparation

8) A drop down menu appears. Click ACT Writing Practice Tests

9) Locate ACT Writing Essay Practice Test 3. –Click Add to My Center

10) Locate My Center on the top right of the screen and click it.

11) You will see ACT Writing Essay Practice Test 3 in your ‘center.’ Click Start.

12) When you click start, the test begins. Take your test and type it into the open field towards the bottom of the page. The topic is in the shaded box at the top. You have 30:00 Minutes to complete the test.

13) Make ANY appropriate changes to your text as you type it into the box. When finished, click Next Page. Follow this with Score My Test. When a Score Report page appears, print this score report page and NOT THE ESSAY.

14) After you have printed your score page, click on View My Essay.

15) Compare your essay to the suggested essay. Then use the “I Can” Rubric to grade yourself, which is located at armadafoster. ( resources ( writing help

16) Then, have a classmate score your essay with the “Polar Rubric,” which is located at armadafoster. ( resources ( writing help. Make sure your classmate explains the score he/she gave you with examples under “Rationale.”

17) This assignment is due ___________. You need to turn in three documents stapled together with your name on top: Score Report (NOT THE ESSAY), “I Can Rubric” self-graded, Polar Rubric graded (and rationalized) by a classmate.
