Dave Buenting (Bay Park); Ruth Morgan (UTMC); Ross Muir (Kingston Rehab); all those we name in our hearts.

RESURRECTION PROMISES

We offer our prayers and support to the family of Rosemary Tymiak who passed away this past week. As Easter people we hold onto the promises of our loving and living Savior!

AT THE FONT

Marc and Brian Baroncini, sons of Chris and Beth Baroncini, will be baptized after the 11:00 a.m. service. As they become members of God’s family of grace, they also become members of the royal priesthood of Christ through their baptism. God bless them as they grow up in this identity and serve in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER PARTNERS INVITE YOU TO PRAY

Each week the Prayer Partners invite you to pray with us for a specific concern.  Christmas is supposed to be a season of joy, yet for some people this is not true.  The loss of a loved one, family discord, financial problems, or other situations can make it very difficult to celebrate.  Please pray that God’s light will indeed shine on those who are suffering this season.  Pray that they will feel God’s presence and comfort in the midst of their struggles.

MUSIC NOTE FOR WORSHIP

Prepare the Royal Highway, (ELW 264) is Zoar’s jubilant hymn of the day for the third Sunday of Advent. Written by Swede-born-in- Finland pastor Frans Mikael Franzén (1772-1847), the text echoes the sentiments of the prophet Isaiah, particularly those found in chapter 40:3-5 (where the highway for the King is made straight), and Psalm 24:7-10 (the throwing open of the gates). It also connects today’s liturgy with that of Palm Sunday: Jesus arrives at the gates of Jerusalem riding on a donkey (as narrated in all three synoptic Gospels). BEREDEN VÄG FÖR HERRAN is the name of the lilting tune. Its dancing rhythms precede the text by about a hundred years. In its current form, the tune first saw the printing press in 1697.
