11/09 Performer and Clinician at Nevada MTNA Convention—University of Nevada, Reno—Will perform and be guest clinician at this three day conference.

10/09 Performer and Clinician at Viola Celebration—University of Tennessee—Will perform and be guest clinician at this two day workshop for violists. This has become a national event in only three years of existence and has attracted such viola clinicians as Jeffrey Irvine, Victoria Chiang and Kathryn Plummer. Last year the Viola Celebration had over 80 participants from 5 states.

4/09 Faculty Guest Artist/Chamber Recital—NAU Campus. Performed a recital of music by Astor Piazzola with guest violinist Miroslav Hristov.

11/08 Faculty Artist Recital—NAU Campus. Performed J. S. Bach Gamba Sonata in G minor, BWV 1029; Bruce Reiprich Scent of Blossom for Viola and Piano; Joel Hoffman Krakow Variations for Solo Viola; and Charles Loeffler Two Rhapsodies for Viola, Oboe, and Piano.

9/08 Concert Performance—Augustana Lutheran Church and St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, Denver, CO. Performed as viola soloist in two performances of Vaughn Williams’ Flos Campi with Musica Sacra Chamber Ensemble and St. Martins Chamber Choir.

7/08 Chamber Recital—NAU Campus. Performed Brahms’ Piano Quartet in A major, op. 26 and Dohnanyi Serenade for Violin, Viola and Violoncello for the Curry Summer Music Camp at NAU students.

6/08 Solo Performance—36th Annual International Viola Congress. Tempe, AZ Arizona State University Smith Music Hall. Featured Recital performance. “Tribute Recital in honor of Dr. William Magers.” Performed Krakow Variations for Solo Viola by Joel Hoffman.

Teaching Experience (2004-2009):

Responsibilities include teaching students age 7-17 weekly private lessons, lead Suzuki group classes, observe and give feedback to college student teachers in Suzuki group classes, two student recitals per semester, one Suzuki group recital per semester.

2005-present Viola Instructor, Curry Summer Music Camp at NAU

Responsibilities include teaching daily viola master classes, viola sectionals, and chamber music coaching to students in 6-12 grades.

2006-present Viola Instructor, Black Hills String Retreat, Rapid City, SD

Responsibilities include teaching daily viola master classes, viola Suzuki group classes, and traditional viola group classes. Lead groups in final concert, perform on faculty recitals. Teach students 5-17 years old.

2008, 2009 Violin Instructor, Valley of the Sun Suzuki Association Annual Workshop

Responsibilities include teaching violin master classes and violin group classes to students age 5-8. I worked with and taught with other NAU Suzuki faculty as well as other high profile, nationally known Suzuki clinicians.

Conducted master class for violin and viola students in the high school orchestra. Approximately twenty students impacted by this master class.

Conducted master class for viola students in the high school orchestra. Approximately twelve students impacted by this master class.

1/08 Conference Presentation—Mesa, AZ. Arizona Music Educators Association Conference, “One on a Part!: The Advantages of Chamber Music for the Pre-College Student,” collaborating with other NAU string faculty.

11/07 Guest Master Class Clinician—Mountain View High School, Tucson, AZ.

Conducted master class for viola students in the high school orchestra. Approximately ten students impacted by this master class.

9/07 Guest Master Class Clinician—Western Oregon University, Monmouth, OR.

Conducted master class for violin and viola college students. Approximately ten students impacted by this master class.

4/07 Guest Master Class Clinician—Mountain View High School, Mesa, AZ.

Conducted master class for entire string orchestra. Approximately 70 students impacted by this master class.

10/06 Guest Clinician—Virtuoso Viola Day, Tempe, AZ.

Conducted a high school viola choir in morning and afternoon sessions, culminating in an afternoon performance. We performed the Telemann Quartet for Four Violas in G major. I also did a workshop on regional and all-state excerpts for those planning to audition for regional and all-state orchestras.

2/06 Guest Master Class Clinician—Las Vegas, NV.

Conducted a master class for the violin winners of each age division of the Bolognini Competition. Approximately 25 students impacted by this master class.

5/05 Guest Master Class Clinician—Eaglecrest High School, Aurora, CO.

Conducted Master Class for the high school string orchestra. Approximately 70 students impacted by this master class.

11/04 Guest Master Class Clinician—Paradise Valley High School, Scottsdale, AZ.

Conducted a master class for the high school string orchestra. Approximately 40 students impacted by this master class.

10/04 Guest Master Class Clinician—Tucson Public Schools, Tucson, AZ.

Conducted master classes at each school. Approximately 150 students impacted by these master classes.

University, Departmental, and Community Service:

2004-present String Area Coordinator

Duties include coordinating faculty loads, run juries, facilitate string area meetings, act as liaison between string area and director, serve as member of the Administrative Council, facilitated on-campus string suditions with graduate assistant.

2006-present Faculty Advisor, NAU student chapter of the American String Teachers Association

The string students and I started the student chapter, which is growing and is very involved on campus and in the community.

2006-present President, Arizona Viola Society

Responsibilities include facilitating board meetings, member recitals, and writing the newsletter. In 2008, I and the treasurer organized the first day of the 36th International Viola Congress in Tempe, AZ. To coincide with the Viola Congress, the Viola Society organized a performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Arizona Diamondbacks major league baseball game.

2007-present Arizona String Teachers Association, Northern Arizona Membership Chair

Responsibilities include attending board meetings, identifying new Northern Arizona members, writing about Northern Arizona for the quarterly newsletter.

2007-2010 Member of the University Faculty Senate

Duties include attending monthly meetings and acting as a liaison between the senate and the faculty. I was just elected to the Elections sub-committee for 2009-2010.

2006-2009 Member of the NAU Faculty Grievance Committee

Heard a grievance in fall/winter 2007-2008.
