Private Pilot Certificate If you have transfer credit: Transfer Credit Students who transfer to OSU from another accredited college or university operating a non-contract Aviation academic program recognized by the Ohio State University may be eligible for transfer credit for OSU Aviation Flight Laboratory courses and/or associated ground courses. Transfer credit may be granted for the following courses: AVIATN 2100, 2101, 2102, 3100, 3101. To obtain AFL credit, the following conditions must be met:1. Transfer credits must be accepted by OSU Admissions as K credit.2. Courses must have a passing grade of at least an 80% (B-).3. Course content must meet or exceed that of OSU’s curriculum.4. Transfer credit must be approved by the class instructor, and5. Submitted to an Advisor for credit.6. No credit will be given for incomplete courses.7. No credit will be given for ratings/certificates earned outside of a college or University.EXAMINATION CREDIT:For students who may have earned their private pilot certificate at an FAA Part 61, school, examination credit may be granted for the following courses only: AVIATN 2100 (Private Pilot Fundamentals, or private pilot ground), 2101 (Private Pilot Flight Lab 1) , and 2102 (Private Pilot Flight Lab 2). The procedures listed below outline the EM credit process.AVIATN 2100 Private Pilot Fundamentals1. Prerequisites:a. Student must possess at least a Private Pilot certificate, orb. Meet all ground training requirements for Private Pilot – Airplane under FAR Part 61 or 141 and have taken and passed the FAA Private Pilot-Airplane Knowledge Test.2. Take a comprehensive Final Exam for AVIATN 2100 with a minimum passing score of 80% on the first attempt. You can contact Flight Education at 614-292-5614 or email Melanie Dickman at dickman.49@osu.edu to schedule the EM exam. AVIATN 21011. Prerequisites:a. Student must possess at least a Private Pilot certificate, or have received a solo endorsement, andb. Met all ground training requirements for solo Student Pilot – Airplane under FAR Part 61 or 141.2. Take the AVIATN 2101 Pre-solo Written Exam with a minimum passing score of 80% on the first attempt.AVIATN 2102* 1. Prerequisites:a. Student must possess at least a Private Pilot certificate, andb. Taken or received EM credit for AVN 2100.2. Take the AVIATN 2102 Final Exam with a minimum passing score of 80% on the first attempt.3. Take the AVIATN 2102 or 2501 Stage Check (both oral and flight lessons) with a cumulative score of no less than 7.1, and no line item grade of “Unsatisfactory”.4. Stage Checks for EM credit must be conducted by an approved stage check pilot.5. Documentation must be submitted to the Chief Instructor and approved by the Center for Aviation*There is an additional cost associated with earning EM credit for Aviation 2102, as the student must be familiar with the Ohio State University flight procedures, be acclimated to the surrounding airspace, and pass a stage check in one of our airplanes, conducted by one of our approved stage check pilots at their cost. This plan is best used by students who plan on continuing their flight training at OSU Flight Education, as the cost may be rolled into the next flight lab. ................
