PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of activities within a designated afterschool program including the three priority outcome areas: Academic Success, Good Character and Leadership and, Healthy Lifestyles. The Program Director provides leadership and supervision to Afterschool program and volunteer staff and manages budgets and controls expenses as assigned.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Prepare Youth for Success Plan and oversee the administration of designated programs and activities that support the Priority Outcome Areas Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s) Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members

Program Development and Implementation Establish and maintain a program that provides a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for all participants, staff members and families

Ensure that the program uses an established set of quality standards, evaluation frameworks and program improvement strategies based on research and evidence-based models for program development purposes

Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program Ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity Monitor program and activity expenditures within approved budget Ensure program fundraises to support program operations and participant activities Responsible for the recruitment, registration and orientation of new members and their families Monitor program attendance to promote retention and ensure program operates at capacity Develop and maintain a program schedule based on grant requirements and priority outcome areas Ensure that program collects, stores and reviews data to measure performance outcomes and support a

comprehensive evaluation strategy

Staffing and Professional Development Work with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and train program staff to meet the requirements of their position and the standards of the organization Assign and monitor the work of program staff, interns and volunteers Provide ongoing supervision and conduct regular performance evaluations Identify and support training and development opportunities for staff, interns, volunteers and personal professional development Ensure productive and effective performance by providing training, coaching and mentoring to all program staff, interns and volunteers Provide a positive work environment to support agency recruitment and retention efforts Conduct and attend staff meetings

Marketing and Public Relations Increase the visibility and positive perception of the organization by contributing to agency's marketing and public relations efforts Post daily schedules, announce upcoming department events, and provide marketing department with timely information on relevant program activities and events Participate in community events and activities on behalf of the organization as needed

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Summer Camp, Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other activities as necessary. May be required to travel to and attend professional development conferences Occasional early mornings, evenings and weekend work required May be required to drive Club vans Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support the mission of the organization

RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with program staff (professional and volunteer), members, colleagues and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.

External: Develop and implement a plan for strategic partnerships that strengthen program operations and provide support to and resources for community groups, schools, members and their families.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred. A minimum of two years work experience developing quality programs and working with youth or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Knowledge of OCFS School Age Child Care programs; best practices with regards to youth development, curriculum development, project based learning, classroom management, and improving the academic performance of underachieving students Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate afterschool program operations Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with minimal supervision. Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
