Job Purpose:

• The Commercial Property Accountant is responsible for providing financial analysis, accounting and reporting for the company’s property development portfolio, including Joint ventures and Partnerships through the application of appropriate levels of due diligence, governance and assurance for activities such as commercial property development, sales agreements and lease agreements.

• The post holder will work collaboratively with the Development and Project Managers along with counterparts from external partners, to drive the right financial outcomes.

• Responsible for the preparation of Budgets and Forecasts for our major development sites and joint venture operations.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the preparation of Budgets and Forecasts for Development Managers on our major development sites and joint venture operations.

• Co-ordination of Budgets and monthly rolling forecasts for development spend and sales by site

• Report on a monthly basis spend and sales against Budget

• Demonstrable professional capability in the construction and review of financial models, that can facilitate informed decision making at senior levels.

• Internal controls and approval processes.

• Assist in the production of business plans/monitor against those plans for joint venture operations

• Responsible for ensuring the contracts and lease agreement obligations are adhered to for financial management review

• Develop system of recording and monitoring commercial and financial obligations arising from sales, JV and development contracts

• JV accounting, consolidations, statutory and JV reporting. Experience of working on joint ventures, including joint venture modelling, accounting and statutory requirements

• Demonstrable professional capability in the construction and review of financial models, that can facilitate informed decision making at senior levels.

• Internal controls and approval processes.

• Experience of working in a changeable environment, with a significant portion of ad hoc activities

Candidate Requirements:

Must have a background of financial accounting, and previous exposure in investment appraisals. Experience in property development, especially as part of a joint venture or partnership

Essential:

• Qualified ACA/CIMA (1 or 2 years post qualification)

• Property/real estate working knowledge

• Commercial property development knowledge

• General management accounting covering aspects such as forecasting, reporting, variance analysis and planning.
