Personal Support Worker Program Support (Part-time: 8 hours per week) July 2015

The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health is an award-winning Health Access Centre that provides holistic health services to First Nation, Inuit and M?tis people living in Ottawa - one of the fastest growing and diverse urban Aboriginal communities in Canada. Wabano is a fastpaced, client-oriented organization that models the Aboriginal values of balance, respect and community interdependence.

Wabano is looking for a PSW to help seniors with their various needs in order to allow for seniors with physical challenges to attend day programming. Programs run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10AM to 2PM.

Responsibilities: The PSW would support seniors with physical limitations in the following ways: Client care and washroom attendance during Seniors Circle program Relationship building and senior capacity development (esp. proper hygene) General service and program support Reporting to Seniors Team Lead

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: College Diploma and Registration as a Personal Support Worker; 2 years of experience providing care as a PSW; Experience with Aboriginal seniors will be considered a strong asset; Experience and ability to help seniors with their toileting needs; Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to work with the Aboriginal population and sensitivity to Aboriginal issues; The willingness to learn about Aboriginal culture to better understand and serve the clients of the Centre;

 First Aid or CPR training or willingness to complete; Individuals with Aboriginal heritage will be given preference for this position (please
