Position Title : Communications and Community Engagement Lead

Department : Connected for Care: Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health Team (LLG OHT)

SUMMARY OF JOB:

In its first year, the Connected for Care Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health Team presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious communications leader to make a difference in the lives of the over 170,000 citizens whom we serve.

As a seasoned communications leader, this opportunity will allow you to showcase your skills. Working in collaboration with our Communications and Community Engagement (C&CE) committee, your responsibilities will include engaging stakeholders to establish our brand identity, building our first strategic plan, and empowering our partners with the communications and engagement systems necessary to be successful in our priority projects.

About the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Ontario Health Team

As the health care system transforms across Ontario, organizations and community partners are joining to form Ontario Health Teams. Officially approved to proceed with development in November 2020, the Connected for Care Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health Team represents a partnership among members, partner health system organizations, and providers to develop a local model that supports a continuum of care with providers across Lanark Leeds and Grenville.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic focus:

• Provide strategic communications planning and implementation; develop communication tools that will broaden and deepen the reach and impact of the OHT.

• Working with a facilitator, oversee LLG OHT strategic planning and monitoring.

• Develop, lead, and execute strategies that engage and empower all OHT partners and their stakeholders; facilitate innovation, efficiency, and sustainable performance in a complex environment.

• Support partnership development with internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with OHT leaders (clinical and corporate) to ensure alignment of service with stakeholder expectations and needs and enable continued OHT innovation.

• Communicate effectively with leaders, as well as external partners including service delivery partners, vendors, Ministry of Health, and Ontario Health.

• Support an equitable, inclusive and diverse organizational culture.

Work with OHT leadership team to:

• Oversee all C&CE activities and evaluate according to established goals.

• Act as the key point of contact for communication/engagement queries and activities.

• Devise and establish C&CE policies to support the OHT.

• Engage organizational stakeholders as partners to support C&CE activities.

• Monitor performance, promote and implement Continuous Quality Improvement principles and practices; support and encourage initiatives which maintain and promote professional standards and practices; champion change initiatives to meet LLG OHT goals and objectives.

• Perform cross-functional and other duties, as assigned and/or requested.

• Travel between partner sites required (post COVID-19).

Communications and engagement:

• Develop, in collaboration with the C&CE committee, and execute the communications and community engagement strategy.

• Write, proofread/edit, produce, and distribute reports, newsletters, publications and other communications.

• Manage ongoing marketing and creative development processes; ensure quality control of external documents/communications.

• Coordinate social media presence and activities.

• Organize meetings and events.

• Use various social media platforms and knowledge of social media engagement strategies.

• Develop effective and comprehensive reports and presentations for various audiences, including patients and their families, community members, executives, administrators, and clinicians.

Communications:

• Oral communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to convey information in a clear, concise way, synthesizing information and presenting it to others.

• Creative thinking and proven systematic organizational skills to work independently without supervision, determine workload priorities to complete work in a timely manner, and identify and resolve problems.

• Innovative and out-of-the-box thinking and ability to handle and navigate ambiguity.

Project management/leadership:

• Demonstrable skills and experience with project management techniques, principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The ideal candidate has a background in communications, public relations, public health, health care administration or project management, or equivalent.

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible strategic leadership roles.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading in a healthcare context.

• Organizational transformation leadership experience preferred.

• Bilingualism preferred.

• Ability to work independently.

• Remote work available, with travel (post-COVID) across Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville.
