Why Join the Fourth Degree

The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups called assemblies. Fourth Degree members must retain their membership in their local council to remain in good standing.

Eligibility: Any Third Degree member in good standing is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. There is no longer a waiting period to join.

Our new assembly has ten monthly meetings each year with a social preceding the meeting. This is an opportunity to share in fraternity with brother knights from other councils in Orange County. We meet the fourth Tuesday on the campus of Christ Cathedral.

Annual activities open to family:

Annual family barbecue and flag retirement ceremony, Officers Installation ? Tuxedo Communion Mass at Christ Cathedral & Brunch-Tuxedo Christmas Brunch in restaurant ? suit and tie Memorial Mass ? Tuxedo Benefit Dinner for Brothers of St. Patrick ? casual dress

We march in the July 4th parade in Huntington Beach. We do not conduct fund raising activities like councils do.

Chalice ceremony. Each Sir Knight may choose to have a chalice ceremony for his funeral Mass. A chalice is engraved with your name and is given to a needy priest. Each time Mass is celebrated, you are remembered in the prayers. .

Color Corps is present at funerals, church dedications, confirmations, weddings and special occasions- White House and Papal escorts. You do NOT have to join the color corps. Current cost for regalia including sword, cape, chapeau, etc. is about $500.

Flags for Schools: We conduct a flag awareness program for elementary schools and give a flag to each student.

NEXT EXEMPLIFICATION: Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Irvine Marriott. Submit Form 4 signed by Financial Secretary and date of your First Degree

$130 fee exemplification includes ONE dinner, name badge, and dues through 2016. Annual dues are $30. You must pay Fourth Degree dues each year and maintain your membership in your council.

Dress Code for exemplification: Black tuxedo, straight collar shirt, black cummerbund black bow tie and black shoes.

Some thrift stores have wool tuxedos with pants for $25.

Items to Remember for Fourth Degree Exemplification 2015 Christ Cathedral--Assembly 3479

The official dress for the Fourth Degree Exemplification is black tuxedo, black bow tie, plain white tuxedo shirt (NO wing tip shirts), black footware, and black cummerbund. Religious may wear their clerical garb and a member serving in the armed forces of his country, full time police and firefighters shall be considered in proper attire when dressed in a Class A dress uniform. See page 7 for tuxedo prices. NO lapel pins and jewel of office to be worn during exemplification. You must have your Third Degree membership card with you for the Fourth Degree Exemplification.

Must be a Third Degree member in good standing.

Submit Form 4 and $130 to Assembly 3479 by September 18th. This fee includes your dinner, badge, and 15 months dues. Priests and Brothers fee is $35.00 and is usually paid by their council. Be sure your Form 4 is filled out properly with your membership number, date of First Degree and signature of your Financial Secretary.

We MUST have your forms and payment ON TIME as we are required to vote on your membership and send an Assembly check to the Master of the Southern California District.

INFORMATION MEETING: Friday, September 18, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Brothers of St. Patrick. Candidates and wives please attend this important event.

A Ladies Luncheon is provided for your wife's entertainment and enjoyment during the actual Exemplification ceremony. Dress is business casual. Our Assembly number is 3479. Ladies look for Assembly 3479 tables. Tickets will be given to you at registration.

Evening banquet tickets will be distributed AFTER Mass in the Hotel Lobby. Seating at tables is assigned by the District Master. You can NOT switch seats. If you wish to sit together as a group, you MUST provide this information to Nestor Tan by the information meeting. Tux is required, formal dress for ladies. If you purchase tickets late, we can not guarantee where you will sit.

Christ Cathedral Assembly annual dues are $30. Fourth Degree Meetings are held the Fourth Tuesday of each month -- (7:00 pm meeting) on the campus of Christ Cathedral. Bring your Third and Fourth Degree membership cards to every meeting and event.

We invite members of your council to join the Fourth Degree. Sir Knights of the Fourth Degree, deem it an honor and privilege to carry our TRIAD EMBLEM, which features The Dove, The Cross, and The Globe. Our Honored Order cherishes as its Patron, Christopher Columbus.

The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups called assemblies. Fourth Degree members must retain their membership as Third Degree members in the local council to remain in good standing. We have ten monthly meetings each year with a social preceding the meeting. This is an opportunity to associate with brother knights from other councils in Orange County.
