Dear Parent/Guardian,

Louisville Middle School students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand our district’s and school’s goals for student academic achievement.

The following information has been distributed to students and parents:

← Student Agenda, the Home School Compact, school rules, school calendar, club information, athletic schedules, and attendance policy

← A statement concerning the Jefferson County attendance policy and the Georgia state law concerning attendance in public schools

← The Jefferson County Code of Conduct and LMS school wide discipline plan (including school dress code)

← Statement of compliance concerning discrimination policy, the handling of student records, and notification regarding highly qualified personnel according to No Child Left Behind

Responsibilities of Louisville Middle School:

1. Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards by:

• Provide a quality instruction by highly qualified teachers who teach a rigorous and relevant curriculum CCGPS Common Core Georgia Performance Standards

• Provide academic connection classes as safety nets for students

• Provide Saturday School for remediation and enrichment opportunities

• Provide an Advisor program to develop and build positive relationships

• Provide a double dose of mathematics for all students to improve achievement

• Provide Saturday Writers Workshop sessions to improve writing skills

• Provide individualized learning paths for students to meet the needs of our students. Ex. READ 180, APPEX etc.

• Provide grade level newsletters each nine week period to familiarize parents and students with CCGPS standards that will be introduced and taught in each content area.

2. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.

• Will conduct Parent Involvement Nights to build effective partnerships and to engage in open communication with parents

• A minimum of four Parent Involvement Nights/ Parent-teacher conferences will be held to support student achievement.

3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.

• Progress Reports will be sent home at three and a half week intervals

• Parent Portal access will be provided so that parents and stakeholders can monitor student achievement

• Report Cards will be distributed at 9 week intervals

• Standards Based progress reports and report cards will be implemented

4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff.

• Open Door policy where parents and stakeholders can visit the school at any time

• Provide email services so that parent and teacher communication is viable

• Provide school website so that parents can stay abreast of events and activities

• Provide access to school twitter account @ LMS Eagles 1

5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities as follows:

• Open door policy where parents can visit and observe classes at any time

• Provide opportunities for parents and stakeholders to proctor for assessments

• Provide opportunities for parents and stakeholders to participate in the school’s mentoring program

• Provide internet access to Class Works, Digits, and OAS to afford parents opportunities to support their children’s learning at home

Responsibilities of the Parent:

I/We, as (a) parent(s), will:

• Send children to school prepared and ready to learn

• Communicate with the school frequently about issues that might affect their child’s education

• Be involved in the daily academic and social activities of their children

• Be positive role models for children about their education

• Access student support technology Class Works, Digits, and OAS to support instruction and achievement

Responsibilities of the Student:

• Come to school prepared and ready to learn

• Be about the business of achieving their education at all times

• Follow the rules as stated in the Jefferson County and LMS codes of conduct

• Be fully immersed and engaged in all work assigned

• Assess and Progress monitor own achievement levels

• Increase lexile levels by 75-100 lexile points each year through a focused reading initiative.

• Increase mathematic achievement by 50-75 points per year on the Universal Screener.
