Teen Volunteer Coordinator

Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, Implementing and scheduling all aspects of the Teen Volunteer program while coordinating with Summer Camp Leaders and Recreation Coordinator.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position works under the close supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and the general supervision of the Recreation Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recruits and markets the program to attract area teens for Summer Camp program, concerts and various special events.

• Coordinates & implements orientation/training.

• Prepares and distributes news releases, flyers, brochures, notices, weekly newsletters, etc.

• Maintains database /log of volunteers

• Creates and updates volunteer handbook.

• Compiles and prepares evaluations

• Maintain communication with Camp Leaders and supervision of staff

• Create work schedule for all volunteers

• Organize volunteer recognition

• Plan and coordinate end of the year party for volunteers, create awards certificates/prizes

• Create check-in and check-out procedures for volunteers

• Make sure all volunteers report on days scheduled to work

• Supervise and evaluate staff and provide positive and constructive criticism

• Prepare an evaluation of the entire season, including inventories, staff evaluations, volunteer reports and recommendations for the following season

• Enforce camp rules and handbook policies adhering and providing appropriate disciplinary actions as required

• Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization

• Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service

• Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events

• Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation

• Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Supervisory experience, preferably in an organized camp (group leader, teacher)

• Experience supervising staff and conflict resolution skills

• Experience working with children and the ability to effectively communicate with parents

• Current CPR and First Aid certification

• Team building and problem solving skills

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a 10-15 person staff

• Good character, sense of humor, enthusiasm, good organizational skills, patient and dependable

• Possess the ability to handle a variety of program demands and pressures with limited direction

• Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others

• Successful experience in leadership, managerial and human relations skills
