Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing trauma informed counselling, therapeutic and practical support to Redress Support Service (RSS) clients via individual and/or group settings. This includes the provision of counselling face-to-face, over the telephone and/or online/video-call counselling. In Adelaide metro and SA regional sites, counsellors may need to provide home visits and outreach appointments, in line with Redress service guidelines and VSS policies and procedures.

In this role you will be working with young people and adults who are survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse engaging with the National Redress Scheme and consider applying for Redress. In the provision of Redress Support Services, you will liaise with external stakeholders, such as lawyers and case managers to support clients with making an application for redress under the National Redress Scheme. You will be part of a small team and will be required to effectively manage a caseload through prioritising workload, including performing relevant and required administrative duties and share experience and knowledge across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

? Provide professional and trauma informed counselling services to clients. Ensure that service delivery complies with relevant funding guidelines, policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.

? Undertake appropriate risk assessments and safety planning, in line with relevant guidelines and referral pathways.

? Demonstrate expertise and competencies in working therapeutically with a diverse range of client cohorts, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people living with disability.

? Ensure the effective maintenance of a case load by: o Regularly contacting clients as agreed with clients. o Undertaking regular reviews of counsellor and client therapeutic goals. o Offering a spectrum of support to clients, commensurate with client needs (i.e., brief intervention vs high level support). o Implementing appropriate exit planning and warm referrals to support client transitions. o Using program approved tools to monitor and evaluate client outcomes.

? Maintain accurate records of client attendance, appropriate case notes (following time frames set out by the service's guidelines) and any other required documentation.

? Regularly updating relevant and required external and internal databases. ? Work flexibly (including but not limited to working from home or occasional work outside

of standard hours) to meet the varying needs of clients, including but not limited to the provision of outreach, supporting the team by serving on the duty roster and responding to ad hoc client presentations. ? Consistently and effectively focus on building rapport and emotional safety with clients. ? Actively participate in VSS quality and continuous improvement activities, which includes providing timely feedback on quality processes. ? Undertake regular evaluations and gather feedback from clients on their counselling and group work and use the feedback to improve practice and outcomes. ? Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant VSS services and foster positive partnerships across the business to support business and client outcomes. ? Maintain awareness of warm referral pathways within the sector and utilise these effectively. ? Identify, effectively manage, and report on client risks and critical incidents, in line with internal and external reporting requirements and associated timeframes. ? Manage self and demonstrate commitment to learning and development of skills through review of own performance, with support from line manager. ? Attend regular supervision and professional development meetings. ? Advocate and effectively liaise with relevant external services, such as financial counsellors and knowmore Legal Service lawyers to the benefit of the client. ? Provide case management and other practical support, as necessary, for clients.

? Draft, complete and submit Redress applications and following up on submitted application progress, in line with National Redress Scheme policy guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

? Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, counselling, or related discipline with demonstrated knowledge and competencies appropriate to Counselling and Social Work, and eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW, PACFA, ACA).

? Must hold and maintain a current working with children clearance.

Experience / knowledge

? Demonstrated experience in providing trauma informed counselling services to clients with complex and varying needs.

? Demonstrated commitment to a client-centred approach to counselling and one which recognises the Three Phased Approach and best practice guidelines for working with clients impacted by trauma.

? Demonstrated ability to effectively identify, manage and respond to risks. ? Demonstrated experience providing a spectrum of support to clients, depending on service

guidelines and client needs. ? Demonstrated experience to provide community education and training for professionals. ? Experience operating within a continuous improvement framework.

Skills

? Highly skilled in working with clients with complex and varying needs, including young people, and adults.

? Strong interpersonal and communication skills. ? Demonstrated cultural competency and understanding of support needs of people of

diverse social and cultural backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, LGBTIQA+ communities and people with disabilities. ? Well-developed analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities. ? Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, including in off-site outreach offices.

Desirable

? Qualifications and demonstrated clinical experience working with children and young people.

? Experience working with interpreters in a therapeutic or counselling setting. ? Fluency in languages other than English. ? Current valid driver's licence.
