The first of these were wounded, injured and sick veterans of the First World War. The original factory was established in Richmond to make poppies and other commemorative items to achieve this purpose. In the decades that followed we have continued to build a supportive environment for wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans, developing a strong understanding of the complex challenges that many face.Today the charity continues to provide paid employment through its Factory for ex-Service personnel with health conditions. However, The Poppy Factory’s support for veterans also now reaches far beyond the factory, into communities across England and Wales. Each year we help hundreds of veterans with health challenges to secure a job and thrive in the workplace, wherever they are. We hope you are inspired to join us in our important work supporting veterans on their journey to employment and to create a world in which every workplace values the contribution they make.Job DescriptionPurpose of the RoleTo lead and manage a highly aspirational regional team, comprising of regional clusters, in delivering an exemplar Employability Service for veterans in England and Wales.To coach and motivate Employability staff to deliver the best possible results for beneficiaries and employers.To lead on regional quality, monitoring & evaluation processes within the Employability Service, maximising impact and ensuring a continuously high level of service.To work collaboratively with the Director Operations and the Employability Managerial team, including the programme hub, and Departments across The Poppy Factory (HR, fundraising, communications) to ensure service quality and strong governance.To support a caseload of clients into meaningful and sustainable employment.To provide cover for another Regional Manager, and / or the wider Employability management team as required. Principal ResponsibilitiesTo lead and line manage a regional team of Employability staff ensuring effective delivery of the service to clients; setting and monitoring of performance to meet objectives and targets, and identifying concerns and undertaking construct actions to address performance, where necessary in consultation with the Director.In accordance with The Poppy Factory procedures, participate in recruitment and ensure that appropriate inductions, regular 121 meetings and annual appraisals are conducted with direct reports.As per Employability policies, ensure the accurate and timely input of data onto the client databases and that client files are kept and maintained to a high standard, both for self and in relation to direct reports in line with The Poppy Factory information management and data protection policies. Undertake a programme of regular caseload review meetings with Employability staff to ensure good management of regional caseloads, to identify any opportunities to improve the service and any risks to service delivery, including risk mitigation measures.To provide a continuously high level of employability support to clients, through direct management of a caseload of clients with health barriers through their journey to employment, including potentially difficult cases.Provide timely and effective management of regional incidents of concern, and where required deal directly with difficult client situations providing support to the regional employability consultants.Lead a regional engagement & outreach strategy, aligned with the national objectives, through good and varied communication, to raise awareness of the service in the region in so we are reaching veterans so that beneficiaries and referral partners are able to access or refer into the service. Ensure that The Poppy Factory is represented at all levels (regional, county, local) amongst the sector, community and networks in the region.Lead on the regional, and where appropriate specific thematic (e.g. criminal justice), monitoring and evaluation procedures in conjunction with the Director of Operations. Produce and analyse management information reports, and contribute to wider initiatives to monitor and evaluate our service.Identify, share and provide ongoing lessons and best practice regularly with the regional team and engage constructively within wider discussions on an impactful employability service.Assist the Director of Operations to continue to develop and improve the employability service. This might for example involve research, making recommendations, testing policy and procedure development and project co-ordination.Where appropriate, lead on specific initiatives, working closely with the appropriate colleagues – in particular across the employability managerial team - in a timely and collaborative manner to ensure objectives are achieved and progress is communicated.Undertake any other duties as needed taking account of changes in operational needs and also taking account of the scope and remit of the role.Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Qualities:QualificationsGood standard of general education to minimum A level or equivalentDiploma in Career Guidance & Development Level 6 or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate active working and effort towards attaining the qualification ExperienceExperience within employment service delivery for people with a range of disabilities, including mental health conditions.Experience of working to the IPS supported employment model or similar.Knowledge and Skills Demonstrate the ability to show empathy with client challenges; be sensitive to complex issues and take a non-judgmental approach.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent writing ability.Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to manage a high volume workload and conflicting priorities effectively, with limited supervisionAble to work independently, accept responsibility and exercise sound judgement in decision-making.Demonstrate effective people skills with the ability to engage and motivate staff and volunteers and a genuine desire to support and develop team membersPossess good IT skills (MS Office)Demonstrate understanding of coaching approaches and motivational interviewingDemonstrates line management ability Comfortable with management processes; assessing performance; giving constructive feedback and taking remedial action to improve performanceAble to adapt management style to meet individual needs while maintaining consistent standards. Salaries are subject to annual review.Hours of Work: Unless otherwise stated, contracts are normally offered on a full time basis, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Head Office Location: The Poppy Factory, 20 Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey TW10 6UR (or home based if applicable).Contract: unless advertisement states otherwise all posts are offered on a permanent contract (subject to completion of a six-month probationary period).Pension: on completion of three months service staff will be auto-enrolled into the Poppy Factory occupational pension scheme offered by Standard Life. Contribution rates on auto-enrolment are 2.67% employee and 5.33% employer (via salary sacrifice). Staff may choose to increase their contribution rate. The Poppy Factory will contribute double the rate, up to a maximum of 10% employer contribution (increasing to 14% after completion of 5 years’ service).
