REPORTS TO: Registered Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Registered Nurse with current NMC PIN
DAY TO DAY DUTIES
1. Make sure that the Care Staff Daily Responsibilities (Policies P11a & P11b) are followed every day
2. Receive handover and feedback from the previous Registered Nurse
3. Check the diary for each day’s events
4. Allocate duties to the care staff for the shift
5. Undertake drug rounds
6. Tour the floor and monitor residents’ personal care requirements and presentation of residents.
7. Answer the telephone in a timely manner, and hand it over to a suitable care staff member if engaged in a meeting.
8. Supervise serving of meals and monitor dietary and hydration requirements
9. Supervise the Social Assistant and ensure that a comprehensive social programme is maintained.
10. Monitor “unacceptable practices”
11. Monitor cleaning standards and odour control
12. Monitor monthly weight recording
13. Monitor wound care
14. Monitor personal care requirements and presentation of residents
15. Review and amend care plans and update risk assessments
16. Conduct a supervision of a care staff member each afternoon and write it up on the on-line system.
17. Record all care given in Person Centred Software
18. Use the Handover Report from Person Centred Software for the handover to next Registered Nurse.
19. Ensure that medication is ordered from the relevant pharmacy.
20. Complete monthly medication audits.
21. Maintain communication with care professionals and relatives
22. Raise safeguarding alerts to the Registered Manager.
If required:
1. Show prospective residents and families around the home
2. Organise reception of new residents
