The position participates in designing evaluation plans and managing the implementation of evaluation studies, including leading instrument and procedure development, analysis and interpretation, report development, and dissemination. The Research Associate & Project Leader also acts as a liaison between community partnerships, public and private agencies, and MPHI.Duties and Responsibilities:Project Leadership: Under the direction of the program coordinator, the project lead plans and manages daily project activities amongst team members. Assesses project needs and monitors project action plans and timelines. Identifies and prioritizes project tasks. Delegates and communicates tasks and deadlines with project team members. Participates in the development of all project reporting requirements, such as project quarterly reports, annual reports, final and special reports. Schedules and facilitates team meetings, and receives project updates on the completion status of tasks, ongoing activities, and project issues from project staff. Ensures careful review of all draft products. Corresponds with clients and partners on an ongoing basis. Evaluation & Research: Independently applies research and evaluation frameworks within community-based settings, including study design, data collection methods, data analysis, and reporting. Leads the development of qualitative and quantitative data collection protocols and instruments, including management procedures, monitoring, and quality assurance. Leads the construction of evaluation plans, data analysis plans, and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative analyses, including descriptive and inferential statistics and survey data analysis. Supporting Community Partners: Assists in the development, design, and creation of products that support community partners with implementing community-based research and evaluation, performance measurement, and needs assessment. Independently plans and leads presentations and facilitation activities, as appropriate. Provides project collaborators and community partners personalized training and technical assistance in evaluation, data collection and analysis. Exercises professionalism, skill, and cultural humility in interfacing with community partners, clients and potential clients.Project Development: Remains current on literature in areas that are relevant to the program and current projects. Participates in project development activities, including the identification, conceptualization, writing and production of proposals. Conducts and writes literature reviews to inform proposals. Creates and nurtures relationships with partners and identifies opportunities for collaboration on new projects.Project Administration: Leads or assists in development and implementation of project work plans, preparation of IRB application materials, timelines, and reports as needed. Travels as needed both in-state and out-of-state. Presents project results and participates in project meetings as needed. Maintains a positive, strong, credible, professional, interpersonal relationship with all parties of MPHI projects, and represents the best interest of MPHI at all times. Qualifications/Requirements:Education: Minimum Master’s degree in public health, family studies, human ecology, evaluation, child development, community psychology, sociology, social work, or relevant social science discipline.Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in evaluation and/or community-based research, including methodological design, data collection, database management, statistical analysis, technical report writing, and dissemination.Important Skills and Characteristics: Strong organizational and problem solving skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to overlapping deadlines. Ability to work independently, analyze project needs, and monitor progress toward completion of tasks. Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communications skills: a positive attitude and professional demeanor; interest in learning and mastering new information and skills; ability to function as a productive member of a team; and flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment. Advanced computer skills are required and include: experience and expertise in the use of word processors (MS Word), spreadsheet programs (MS Excel), Statistical analysis (SPSS), database (MC Access), and graphical presentations (MS PowerPoint).Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The position may require moderate physical effort including working with a PC at least 75% of the time. Standard office environment.
