Don’t be greedy!

Intro: Our assembly today is all about being greedy, and the bad consequences it can have!

Talk: Most of us like having lots of nice things. But imagine you know someone in this school who always disrespects people and doesn’t always give back the things they borrow! Would you ever lend anything to them!?

The person would need to show that they are sorry in the things they do, saying sorry wouldn’t be enough.

The story today is from the Bible, and is about a man who took lots from people, was greedy and never gave anything back in return!

Story (could get children to act out): The greedy tax collector. Luke 19:8

Talk: There are lots of ways we can help people who are in need, and God is happy when we do this. At this school, we give money to ______ charity. What other things can we give money to!?

PRAY

Song: ‘My name is Zaccheus’ ’ or ‘Love is something if you give it away’

‘’I’m short and fat and I’m not very pretty,

But im the richest man in the city,

But that doesn’t do me any good, no, no, no, no,

I don’t live like I should

And so I’ve, gotta see Jesus,

I climbed up a tree

I’ve gotta see Jesus

I hope he sees me

I’ve gotta see Jesus

My name is Zaccheus!’’
