JOB DESCRIPTION ? Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Headmaster (including coordinating

diaries, organising meetings, taking notes of staff and other meetings, typing and wordprocessing). ? Undertake reception duties including answering telephones and welcoming and registering visitors. ? Assist with pupil welfare matters, including contacting parents and staff. ? Maintain manual and computerised records. ? To perform such other office functions as the Headmaster requests.

NATURE OF ROLE ? This is a full-time role. ? During the school term, working hours will be from 8.30am until 5.00pm Monday to

Friday. ? There is a requirement to work two Saturdays each term to be agreed with the

Headmaster in line with the calendar. ? During the school holidays, the school secretary will be expected to be available for up to

five days at either end of each school term and to help with responding to telephone / email messages at other times (as agreed ? which may be done remotely).

PERSON SPECIFICATION Job related skills and knowledge ? Proven track record in a similar role. ? Good communication and inter-personal skills. ? Creativity and ability to find solutions to difficult problems. ? Appropriate knowledge and training to meet the requirements of the position. ? Ability to promote the image of the School through an articulate and confident approach. ? Organisational ability; to be systematic; efficient; meet deadlines and priorities.

Experience ? Knowledge of school database and management information systems would be an

advantage ? in particular ISAMs. ? Work well in a team.

High personal and professional standards. ? Demonstrate the ability to enthuse and encourage others.

Other requirements ? Good sense of humour. ? A good standard of general education. ? Good level of numeracy and attention to detail. ? Flexibility, motivated, ability to work unsupervised and ability to deal with unpredictable

situations. ? Tact, discretion and able to listen whilst maintaining confidentiality. ? Successful candidate requires enhanced DBS clearance. ? Willingness to take part in the wider life of the School.
