Updated: Bank Robbery Suspect Sought

ELK GROVE, CA ? On Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 3:25 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to 9312 Elk Grove Boulevard (Safe Credit Union) regarding a robbery alarm.

Officers arrived and discovered that an armed suspect had forced the employees of the Safe Credit Union into a vault and fled with an unknown amount of U.S. Currency. The suspect was armed with a small black handgun and was described as a either a light skinned African-American or a Hispanic male adult, five feet eight inches tall (5'8"), one hundred and fifty pounds (150 lbs.), with a black ski mask. The suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with "Ecko" across the lower back, black pants and was carrying a red duffel bag with black straps. The suspect fled on foot in a northwest direction through the parking lot.

Investigators originally believed that a Toyota Matrix was involved in the robbery. Through further investigation, it was determined that the Toyota Matrix was not involved.
