Job Summary:

Provide engineering and shop support to the CNC Machining Business by introducing and maintaining processes and hardware. Primary functions include new product introduction, CNC programming and manufacturing process design. Provide manufacturing engineering support for assigned production cells, collaborate with process certifying agents & manufacturing personnel, and orchestrate tooling/other equipment deliveries for effective new product introductions. Identify, lead and implement cost-out and product quality projects using Lean Six Sigma methodology/tools and innovative ideas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop CNC machining processes, including process and fixture design, CNC programming (GibbsCAM), and inspection plans

• Troubleshoot CNC machining and inspection issues

• Prepare quotations for new products by researching tooling design, determining equipment capabilities, and developing manufacturing processes to determine a best fit solution.

• Write and maintain quality control work instructions and procedures to comply with MPP policies and customer standards.

• Assist in the disposition of nonconforming product and development of rework tickets.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience or equivalent training in CNC programming with CAM software (preferably GibbsCAM).

• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerencing

• Proficiency in MS Office including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

• Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills

• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals, and whole numbers

• Legal Authorization to work in the United States

• Ability to speak, read, write English

Desired Characteristics:

• 3-5 years’ progressive CNC machining experience or equivalent training

• Experience with Haas and Mazak CNC machines

• Background in aerospace manufacturing and/or similar quality systems

• Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma techniques

• Experience with tool/fixture design

• Ability to apply statistical methods in manipulation and interpretation of data, graphs, charts

Work Environment:

• May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).

• Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.

• Occasionally lifts 25 - 40 #’s.
