Vapes/JUULs & Nicotine Addiction o JUULing=Vaping=Tobacco Use o National epidemic o Those who vape were 4 times more likely to report cigarette smoking.

Facilities oversees all major maintenance of all DCPS schools (158 schools).

115 of our schools are over 65 years old. Mold-if an issue is reported, we go to school and investigate

following the Indoor Air Quality Policy developed by DCPS. We have adopted the EPA Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools kit. Annually-$22 million budgeted for 2018-19 for all of maintenance

department. Budget was double this in previous years, but due to budget cuts at the city level and state level, it has been reduced in half. School Safety-$400,000 budgeted for fencing, $430,000 for hazardous spaces (broken sidewalks, etc) School zones are maintained by the City of Jacksonville and work in collaboration with DCPS Two new schools in plans, near 9B and on the northside (K-8 schools), but not in the immediate plans until funding is available. Cafeterias-Federal funding being used to renovate school cafeterias.

o DCPS was recognized at the last school board meeting for achieving GOLD! We are a GOLD Florida Healthy School District from 2018-2020!

o Motioned to Approve, 2nd , Motion Approved 1:18 pm

Health Services Committee Presented at school board policy meeting the new Lice Policy. Waiting for approval from the board.

Health Education Committee Approved Speakers utilized less in 17-18 than in 16-17.

Behavioral and Mental Health Committee Met Oct 23-working on creating a discharge summary for non-baker act services. It helps close the gap from the medical professionals and the schools. Working to create a district wide resource map of services available. Next meeting November 27 at noon in 541 of school board building.
