2 Timothy 16-17

THE LORD WANTS TO BLESS YOU

Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Numbers 6:24-26 "The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, The Lord lift up His face to you and give you peace."

Deuteronomy 33:11a: Bless all his skills, O Lord, and be pleased with the work of his hands. (Note: What a beautiful blessing in Deuteronomy 33 for Levi. (v. 8-11). Levi = priest. We are His royal priesthood. Our skills are to be blessed and God will be pleased with the work of our hands. This is the only blessing on skills in Moses' last blessing of the tribes!)

Deuteronomy 7:13 He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land--your grain, new wine and oil--the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land that he swore to your forefathers to give you.

Deuteronomy 33:11a Bless all his skills, O Lord, and be pleased with the work of his hands.

Numbers 6:24-26: The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, The Lord lift up His face to you and give you peace.

Psalm 22:9-10 Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast. From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.

Psalm 27:13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us

Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Isaiah 49:15 Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

GOD'S PLAN FOR WORK

Genesis 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Hebrews 13:21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Proverbs 16:26 The laborer's appetite works for him; his hunger drives him on. Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard does not plow after the autumn, So he begs during the harvest and has nothing. Isaiah 43:21 the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare my praise. Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-9 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. Ephesians 6:6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, Proverbs 14:23 All hard work brings a profit but mere talk leads only to poverty Galatians 6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (clarify what those good works are!) Ecclesiastes 9:10a Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might... Proverbs 18:9 One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys. Exodus 34:21 Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.

VISIONING & LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

Numbers 24:16 The oracle of one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened... (Vision comes from the Almighty, when we are prostrate and He opens our eyes.)

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish. (God is the vision)

John 14:16 I am the way, the truth, and the light. (God is the way, the path, to all truth, to all visions.)

Proverbs 16:9 In his heart, a man plans his course, but the Lord determines His steps. (We may plan, but the Lord can be trusted to redirect our steps if we need to go a different direction.)

Lamentations 3:37 Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? (God is sovereign!)

Isaiah 30:21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (God will be faithful to guide.)

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you, and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

1 Chronicles 28:12 He (King David) gave him (Solomon) the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind...

JOBS / ASSIGNMENTS & SUCCESS COME FROM GOD

Genesis 32:9-10 Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O Lord, who said to me, 'Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,' I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups.

Genesis 39:2 The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered

Psalm 75:6-7 No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. But it is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

Luke 19:17 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'

1 Chronicles 27:25-34 Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouse ... in charge of the field workers ... in charge of the produce of the vineyards ... was in charge of King David's property ... BRAINSTORMING, PRIORITIZING, EXECUTING YOUR PLAN

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (God is the giver of ideas!) Luke 10:42 Mary has chosen the better part. (Focus on priorities!) Philippians4:9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me ? put it into practice. (Note: Don't just think about it, DO IT!)

PLANNING

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Psalm 33:10-11 The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Job 42:2 I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. Proverbs 16:1 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. Luke 14:28 Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. James 4:13-15 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

TRIALS ARE TREASURES FROM GOD

Lamentations 3:38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?

1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Romans 5:3-5 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Numbers 14:24 But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it. (emphasis added)

ASK FOR HELP ... CRY OUT TO THE LORD

Isaiah 38:2-6 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, "Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes. And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: "Go and tell Hezekiah, `This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.'"

Exodus 3:7 The Lord said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering."

1 Samuel 7:8 They said to Samuel, "Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines."

2 Samuel 22:6-8 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears.

Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.

Mark 10:48-51a Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." GET GODLY COUNSEL, PARTNER WITH OTHERS ON YOUR JOURNEY

Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. 1 Kings 22:16 The king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?" (select mentors who will be honest with you and not just go along with the crowd. Read 1 Kings 22:1-40 for more insights.) Ecclesiastes 7:5 It is better to heed a wise man's rebuke than to listen to the song of fools. Proverbs 20:5 The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out. Ecclesiastes 4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Proverbs 20:18a Make plans by seeking advice... Luke 5:7a: So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them... 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

GOD WANTS US TO BEAR FRUIT IN OUR LIVES, WHICH INCLUDES OUR WORK Luke 13:6-9 Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, `For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?' "`Sir,' the man replied, `leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.'"

John 15:5,8 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. ... This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

EMPLOYMENT INTERVIEWING... WHAT YOU SAY

Proverbs 16:15 Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value a man who speaks the truth.

Know when to stop talking: Judges 16:16-17a With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was tired to death. So he told her everything. "No razor has ever been used on my head," he said, "because I have been a Nazirite set apart to God since birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man."

2 Corinthians 11:17 In this self-confident boasting I am not talking as the Lord would, but as a fool.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Dress appropriately: 1 Timothy 2:9-10 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

John 12:49 For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it.
