Coffee is slowly growing.

US coffee market will have grown $12 billion in 2014. Growth forecast is roughly 6% annually through 2019.

Single cup drives growth in the coffee category.

Continued growth in the single-cup segment have led the coffee category to strong growth (10-15% annually) and this trend is expected to continue. Consumers strongly embrace the number and variety of single-cup concepts which is now including both coffee and espresso options.

Millennials yearn for iced coffee and new flavored coffees.

Millennials are the primary consumers of RTD coffees specifically iced coffee made at home. 48% say the iced coffee that they make at home tastes as good as that at a coffeehouse or restaurant. Millennials as well as some Gen X coffee consumers are very interested in a variety of flavors in their coffee including seasonal flavors such as pumpkin spice and fruit flavors. 56% of Millennials are open to trying new kinds of flavors if they are offered by their favorite brands ? most likely the coffeehouse brands they prefer.

Coffee for lunch!

Single-cup drip makers are most common among all race/ethnicities. Among all races/ethnicities, coffee is more likely to be served at lunch. 26% of Hispanics are less likely to drink coffee in the morning with breakfast, similar to 23% of other races.

Hispanics drink RTDs and cold brew more than traditional hot coffee.

Hispanics consume more RTD coffee (59%) and cold brew (42%) in comparison to White/Non-Hispanics. Both Hispanics and Black are not opposed to added coffee benefits such as probiotics, vitamins and minerals.
