Talk It Rock It

Songs and Poems that can be paired with the Blast Off Board Sound Sequencing SetWhen children with normal speech and language skills play, you will notice that they are typically verbal. They can talk and play simultaneously. Children with speech difficulties or motor planning issues may be very quiet during play. They cannot seem to move and speak at the same time. Short and simple songs or poems that incorporate simple movement with verbal practice are a wonderful bridge for teaching children to speak while moving. Here are some songs and poems to encourage movement while verbalizing. All songs ?Rachel Arntson, Talk It Rock It, 2017. These songs also frequently incorporate “chains of three” which repeat the same word three times sequentially to help children with imitation of sounds in running speech without the complexity of using phrases.
