➢ Knowledge in a wide variety of manufacturing processes, including metal stamping, CNC machining, extrusion (metal and plastic), plastic injection and blow moulding, and die casting. These processes are also complimented with the selection of various materials and selection of finishes that are associated with them. Understanding of tool and dies, moulds, and jigs and fixtures.

➢ Knowledge of fasteners, hardware, and fastening process techniques.

➢ Build of marketing models and prototypes for evaluation and or testing.

➢ Understanding of high and low volume production performed by various contract manufacturers and part vendors both locally and off shore.

➢ Certified ISO Internal Auditor.

➢ Understanding of NEBS (GR-CORE), MIL, UL, CSA, IPxx and RoHS/WEEE standards.

➢ Knowledge in “Design for Manufacture and Assembly”.

➢ CAD Software: SolidWorks 2008, with COSMOS (FEA simulation) and CircuitWorks (PCB 3D generator).

➢ BOM and Part Documentation Software: OMNIFY PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

REDLINE COMMUNICATIONS INC., Markham, Ontario 2001 - 2008

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

➢ AN-50e/AN-30e and T-58: Backhaul broadband systems, consisting of sheet metal chassis’ and a die cast enclosure.

• Led the design from concept to production, including prototyping and testing.

• Completed all designs of wire/cable assemblies and custom antenna mounting brackets. Completed all hardware selection, drawings and all Bill of Materials. Testing consisted of vibration, temperature, shock, drop, environmental (thermal, humidity), salt spray, IP67, wind loading and sun loading. These tests were conducted at Redline and also third party sources.

➢ AN-80i: Backhaul broadband system, consisting of a die cast enclosure.

• Led the design from concept to production, including prototyping and testing.

DAVID PORTELLI

• As a cost reduction, this product merged the AN-50e/AN-30e and T-58 unit assemblies into one enclosure.

• Completed all designs of wire/cable assemblies and custom antenna mounting brackets. Completed all hardware selection, drawings and all Bill of Materials. Testing for this product was also completed similarly to that of previous products.

➢ RF-7800W: Backhaul broadband system, specifically for the military, consisting of a die cast enclosure.

• Assisted in the design from concept to production, including prototyping and testing.

• Worked closely with the customer to identify and present proper protocol for all part, assembly and shipping documentations.

➢ AN-100/AN-100UX and TB/HTB Radios: WiMax based wireless system, consisting of sheet metal chassis’ and die cast enclosures.

• Led the design from concept to production, including prototyping and testing.

• Investigated the use of thermal heat spreaders (graphite sheets and heat pipes) to allow the spread of heat generated inside the enclosure.

• Completed all designs of wire/cable assemblies and custom antenna mounting brackets. Completed all hardware selection, drawings and all Bill of Materials. Testing for this product was also completed similarly to that of previous products.

➢ SC-1000 4C and RRH (Radio Remote Head): WiMax mobile based (MIMO) wireless system, consisting of a Micro TCA chassis and die cast enclosure.

• Led the design from concept to production, including prototyping and testing for the RRH, and assisted in the development of the SC-1000 4C chassis.

• Worked closely with connector suppliers to design and implement a custom made connector (Fiber Optic) that is used on the RRH.

• Ensured that the design was kept within size and weight limitations set out by the telecom industries.

• Completed all designs of wire/cable assemblies and custom antenna mounting brackets. Completed all hardware selection, drawings and all Bill of Materials. Testing for this product was also completed similarly to that of previous products.

TORONTO MICROELECTRONICS INC., Mississauga, Ontario 1996 - 2001

Mechanical Design Engineer

➢ PBX Monitoring System: System used in a telephone exchange environment.

• Led the design from concept to production, including prototyping.

• Developed custom heat spreaders to contact the heat generating components to dissipate the heat to the environment inside the chassis and in turn exhausted via a fan.

• Completed all associated wire/cable assemblies, brackets, hardware selection, drawings and all Bill of Materials.

➢ Avionic Entertainment Module: System used on board aircraft to deliver audio/visual entertainment.

• Led the design from concept to prototype.

➢ Various PCB Assemblies:

• Developed various custom made mounting for outsourced heat sinks that were mounted on the heat generating components of the PCA’s
