SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20

• Miss North Carolina Yam Festival Scholarship Pageant

South Columbus High School, 6:00 p.m. Admission fee of $8 includes a program.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 22

• Yam Festival Headquarters Opens

Public Library. 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Information, souvenirs for sale.

• Quality Sweet Potato Contest Judging

Sweet Potato Contest Entries will be judged at Tabor City Public Library

• Yam Festival Display Contest Entry Deadline

Any Business may enter; Residential, within city limits, may enter

Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. (Call 910-377-3012 to enter.)

• Sweet Potato Pancake Supper

Location: Cafeteria of Tabor City Elementary School, 203 Stake Road, Tabor City, NC

5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Eat in or take out, Tickets $8 each

Tickets may be purchased in the office of Tabor City Elementary School.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23

• Yam Festival Headquarters Opens

Public Library, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Information, souvenirs for sale.

• Yam Festival Display Contest Judging

Entries will be judged beginning at 10 a.m.

• Sweet Potato Food Cookoff

Location: The Todd House No Entry Fee.

Three Divisions: Adult, Teen (13 – 18 y/o), Restaurant

Entries will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Closed Judging session will take place from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Public viewing of ALL Entries: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

• Sweet Potato Auction Dinner

By Invitation Only.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24

• Art / Photography / Sweet Potato Crafts Registration

Location: Tabor City Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 200 Live Oak Street, Tabor City, NC

Youth and Adult entries accepted from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A One-Night Youth Revival consisting of Praise & Worship Music and a Guest Speaker/Pastor

Location: Fred E. Lay Stage in the Ritz Plaza, 6:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

• Taste of Tabor

Home of Tim Wright, 4370 Sidney-Cherry Grove Road, Clarendon, NC 28432

(5 miles from Tabor City town limits)

(Rain location: South Columbus High School, 40 Stallion Drive, Tabor City)

Time 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with Entertainment by “ELVIS” and Chris Wright, a local talent favorite.

COSTUME CONTEST and Photo Opportunities so wears your best 1950’s attire!

Tickets are $20 each for Adults & $10 each for Children 12 y/o and under. Tickets may be purchased at Tabor City Chamber of Commerce, Tabor City Public Library or from any Board Member.

• Yam Bowl

SCHS Stallions vs East Bladen with kick off at 7:30 p.m. at South Columbus High School

Yam Bowl Trophy will be awarded to the winning team.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27

Public Library, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Information, souvenirs for sale.

• Train Depot Museum

West 4th Street. 8:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m.

• Arts & Crafts, Food Concessions

Downtown & along Hickman Road, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Free Admission. Vendors set their own food, craft, retail, novelty, etc. purchase prices.

• Exhibits by Tiger Tater

Public Library, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Free Admission

• Yam Festival Parade

10:00 a.m. …Originating on Stake Rd., right on Bell Street, right on Hickman Road, right on 5th Street, left on Wall Street. Consists of more than 100 units, bands, clowns, area queens, floats, and much more.

• Kids Zone

Located down Live Oak Street. Inflatables, games and educational displays fun for the whole family.

Fees may apply.

• Big Bang Boom Stage on Hickman Road

Variety of entertainment begins following parade. Bring a Lawn Chair! Free admission.

• Little Farmer & Farmerette Pageant

Begins at 2:00 p.m. on the Big Bang Boom Stage

Historical re-enactment at the Town Gate (next to Tabor City Public Library) 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Free Admission

• Ritz Plaza Stage

Entertainment begins following parade featuring Southside Dance Center,

& much more. Free admission.

•Tabor’s Got Talent

Begins at 3:00 p.m. at the Ritz Plaza Stage. This event will be judged. There will also be an award presented for the “Crowd Favorite” so crowd participation is strongly encouraged. For entry information, contact Erin Mincey at erin.e.mincey@ or 910-625-6753.

• BLS Competition

BLS competition 1:00 p.m., in front of Tabor City Elementary School

• Stallion Classic Band Field Competition

OK Corral at South Columbus High School, 1:00 p.m. Awards Ceremony to follow.

Hosted by SCHS Stallion Band. Admission Fee Applies.

• Tabor City High School Reunion

All graduates invited to attend. Tabor City Elementary School/Beth R. Woody Auditorium.

Doors open at 1:00 p.m. The Class of 1968 will present the program which will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Registration at the Train Depot Museum on Fourth Street across from Courthouse 8:45 p.m.-10:45 a.m.
