PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE-Lenten Journey

As I begin this Lenten journey, the desire of my heart is to draw closer to you, source of compassion, and to embody your tenderness and care for others. SAFE SCHOOLS INFORMATION – for parents’ information

All schools in BC, including independent schools, are required to have at the school level and within the organization trained personnel and policies and procedures that ensure the safety of students and staff. The Principal and two staff members at St. Joseph’s are trained in ERASE Level 1 and the Principal has Violent Risk Threat Assessment training. At our diocesan level, we have three trained Safe School Coordinators: the Superintendent and two of the principals. In the case of an unsafe situation including such incidents as weapons at school, threats of violence, self-harm, threats of self-harm, etc, our school has protocols to follow which include contacting the Safe School Coordinators for support and guidance. Assessments of the situation and students are made by qualified personnel and safety plans are created with qualified personnel which may include counsellors, psychologists, RCMP, medical professionals, etc.
