Application for admission to the Joint Degree Program with the

Graduate School of Education (GSE)

(for current MBA students)

Application Procedures: Submit your completed application packet to: Wesley Horng, Associate Director

of Admissions and Academic Affairs at wjhorng@stanford.edu by 12pm on Friday, October 22, 2021.

You will be notified of our decision by Friday, October 29, 2021. Please note, accepted MA-MBA

students are expected to enroll in EDUC 393, Education, Business, Politics in the Winter quarter of their

first year. Conflicts with EDUC 393 attendance will not be approved.

A completed application packet consists of the following:

1. Application for Admission to the Joint Degree Program (this form)

2. Program Proposal (second-year MBA students only)

3. Statement of purpose describing your interest in the Joint Degree program

Your statement should be typed, single-spaced and should be between two to three

pages in length. Describe succinctly your reasons for applying to the Joint MA/MBA

program, your preparation for this field of study and why our program is a good fit for

you, your future career plans, and other aspects of your background as well as interests

which may aid the admissions committee in evaluating your aptitude and motivation.

Second-year MBA students

The MA-MBA degree program is designed to start during students' first year, and students are

highly encouraged to apply at that time. In exceptional cases, second year GSB students may

apply by the deadline indicated above. Students should demonstrate their interest and commitment

to the MA-MBA degree by completing or enrolling in a minimum of 9 EDUC units by the time of their

application in the second year. This is a minimum requirement, however does not guarantee

acceptance.

Second-year students must also submit a program proposal detailing how they plan to

fulfill their degree requirements within 7 quarters. Students must submit their program

proposal to Associate Director of Degree Programs Caroline Stasulat (stasulat@stanford.edu) for

review before submitting the completed application to Wesley Horng.
