October 6 Fall Festival and Block Party East Stroudsburg: 104 miles

Get a taste of the history of the mighty DL&W Railroad with tours of the historic East Stroudsburg tower. Enjoy the hospitatility of East Stroudsburg with food and music. Departs at 9:30am and returns about 4:30pm.

October 7 Tobyhanna: 52 miles

Take a trip to the highest railroad station on the DL&W main line and a walk to a working ice house. Departs at 11:00am and returns about 3:00pm.

October 21 Cresco: 78 miles

Enjoy a musical Sunday visit with live guitar music and light refreshments. The restored depot preserves aspects of life in the early days of the Poconos. A show of historic autos are also part of the train visit, weather permitting. Departs Steamtown at 11:30am and returns about 4:30pm.

October 27 Ghoulsboro: 41 miles

November 23, 24 & 25 Holiday Train: 26 miles

Children big and small can take this quaint train ride to Moscow to meet Santa. Kids can also write Santa a letter, make ornaments, and enjoy light refreshments. You'll get into the festive spirit of the season.

Steamtown's 2018 Excursion Season

Steamtown National Historic Site's trains take you to several destinations to give you a sample of the individual towns along the rail lines. Historic locomotives pull early-20th century passenger cars to take you on a journey into the past.

December 1 Christmas in a Small Town

On Saturday, December 1, Santa Claus will leave his sleigh at the North Pole and come to town early on a train! Six local communities - Carbondale, Archbald, Jessup, Olyphant, Dickson City, and at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton - will celebrate Christmas in a Small Town when Santa arrives aboard a special train provided by Steamtown National Historic Site. Short Train Rides

Scranton Limited Train Ride: Enjoy a half-hour train ride through the historic Delaware, Lackawanna & Western (DL&W) Scranton railroad yard and up a short piece of the mainline past the Lackawanna Station. Departs at 10:30, 11:30, 1:15, and 2:15.

Nay Aug Limited Train Ride: This 45-minute train ride travels through the DL&W railroad yard and up the historic mainline to Nay Aug Gorge, a National Natural Landmark. Departs at 10:30, 11:30, 1:15, and 2:15.

Steamtown National Historic Site is closed on Thanksgiving Day, December 25 and January 1.

Short Train Ride is $5.00 per person (ages 6 and above). All ticket sales are walk-up on the day of the short train ride. Go to stea/ planyourvisit/trainrides.htm for more information.
