My Storybook for ClassroomsStudents need to use their school email to create an account. The account is free. When they finish writing their story, students can choose to publish their story and share the link with their class. Parents can even decide to purchase the published copy. You can make a printed copy or make a link as an E-book. To support the site, they charge $5 for high quality printable PDFs of a storybook. After paying, you can still revise your story and reprint it as many times as you want. Teachers can use a single email address and log students on using the same account. This feature will allow for all student books to be easily assessable for the teacher. Teachers can make as many stories as they like, and all the students' stories will show up in your library under My Books. You can make an unlimited number of stories, upload images, and share your stories for free. I would offer this professional learning community to all faculty and staff of the school. The website is designed for grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. I think all teachers in all subject areas could have their students work on a project using this website. I would send an invite to the whole faculty to see who would be interested. If there is only a small group of teachers I could have them come in all at the same time. If there is a large group, I will split them into groups based on their ability. Most storybook programs are similar with their features. If teachers have used Smartboard, PowerPoint, or Slidemaker, they are going to quickly understand how to use this website. I can move at a faster pace with these teachers. The survey will give me an idea of their comfort level before joining me for this PLC. I also will be evaluating their progress each week as I teach new skills to help them make their storyboard. I will need to give assistance to staff who are struggling. Maybe even invite them at different times to work one-on-one with me. The end project will show me their level of understanding. I will use the rubric to check to see if they included all components of the PLC. They can submit their storyboard to me by sending the URL via email. At my school we have Tech Thursdays every Thursday morning starting at 8:10 until 8:45. This time is set aside for any faculty who would like to come to the computer lab to get training with technology. This short time period does not allow us to cover all the aspects of so I am going to break it up into four sessions. During this time, I will have teachers log onto the computer. While they are waiting for everyone to show up, they can explore the website and ask me any questions. At 8:10 I will present the objectives for the morning. I will show them first what I am going to teach step by step. After demonstrating, people who understand can work ahead and practice while others will be directed step by step. This website saves your work as you are working. At 8:35, I will do a quick sweep to see if the objectives for the day were meet and if anyone has any questions. During each class I will have a parking lot on the front board. The faculty can post any comments or questions they may have.
