Your doctor has ordered a sleep study for you to complete at home. Once you are scheduled please come to the Fauquier Health Sleep Center at 493 Blackwell Rd, Suite 317, Warrenton, Virginia, 20186 on the designated time and day to pick up the device.
A Home Sleep Study is a simple procedure to evaluate you for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Please complete the enclosed questionnaires and bring them to your appointment where a staff member will instruct you on how to wear the device and answer any questions you may have.
Do the Home Sleep Study on the night you receive the device. In order to give your doctor a true representation of what you experience each night, be sure to do what you normally do throughout the day, evening and at bedtime. Apply the monitor and go to bed at your normal bedtime, and try to get at least 6 hours of sleep. If you don’t get at least 4 hours of sleep, the test may be considered inconclusive. Inconclusive tests are usually followed up by having an overnight sleep test in the sleep lab.
If you need to get up during the night, do not remove the monitor. You may remove the finger probe if you need to go to the restroom, but be sure to put it back on when you return to bed.
In the morning, remove the monitor, turn it off, place it in the provided bag and return it to the Sleep Center.
The Home Sleep Study is often times a preliminary screening. Once you see the sleep physician for follow up results of this study further studies may be indicated. If ordered, Fauquier Health Sleep Center will contact your insurance company for authorization then schedule you for the study. Some insurance companies may take 6-8 weeks to provide authorization. You will be kept up to date as to the process and scheduled as soon as authorization is granted.
If at any point during your testing you have questions, please call the Fauquier Health Sleep Center at 540-316-2660 or email GetSleep@. During the overnight hours you can call 540-316-2662 to reach a sleep technician to answer any technical questions you may have.
