My post-secondary plan is to go to college to major in teaching with a focus on special education. I'd like to teach so that I can help other young people fall in love with history while teaching the life skills necessary to become successful like my teachers did for me. I want to expose children to learning and help them love education just as much as I do.

Throughout my years of life, school seemed to be my happy place. My at home life wasn't the greatest. School was my escape sometimes. I want to be an escape or safe place for other children. I enjoyed learning new things everyday. My goal is to teach the children something new everyday while also remaining interesting.

My life has had so many ups and downs, and has had a big impact on why I am choosing to further my education. I want better for myself. I do not want to be like anyone else in my family who has not been successful in life. I began to think that my family was right about me not being smart enough to attend college or be awarded scholarships. I wanted to give up and just be like

senses and realized that I can turn my dreams into reality even if my family doesn't believe in me. I can do anything I put my mind to.

My dream is to become a high school history special education teacher. I knew I wanted to be a teacher ever since the 6th grade. The idea of helping kids become successful and starting a life for themselves brings me joy. I am thankful for my history teachers for helping me love this subject. In the Fall, I will be attending Western Illinois University studying secondary history education.

All in all, this scholarship will help me by providing some materials I need to start my journey to college.
