REFUND POLICY

Full refunds will be granted 1 business day prior to the start of class.

Credit card payments will be refunded directly to the card. Cash and check payments will be reimbursed via check and mailed out within 3-4 weeks.

Classes may be canceled due to lack of enrollment. Please make every effort to register 2 weeks in advance so a class will not be canceled unnecessarily.

YOUTH CAMPS

Camp Sunshine

Ages: 3-entering K

This camp offers a blend of challenging and imaginative activities in a supportive and nurturing environment. Your child will experience adventure, excitement and fun in these action packed weeks of camp. Campers will engage in group activities, games, art projects and cooking as well as have the opportunity to jump in the bounce house and swim in the kiddie pool at the Swim Center. Campers must be toilet trained to attend camp. Children are expected to bring a lunch, morning snack and a water bottle to camp each day. Afternoon snack will be provided. Kids Klub

Ages: grades 1st-3rd

This camp offers a safe, fun and creative environment for campers to engage in group activities while making new friends and discovering new interests. Your child will engage in group games, crafts, sports, and specialty projects. Each week campers will have the opportunity to participate in a special event, 2 swim days, and a field trip. Campers are expected to bring a lunch, morning snack and a water bottle to camp each day. Afternoon snack will be provided. Location: Petaluma Community Center

Ages: grades 4th-6th

This camp offers group activities, games, art, sports, cooking, and music. Your camper will assist in the planning and implementing of special events for Kids Klub. Each week campers will have the opportunity to participate in a special event, 2 swim days, and a field trip with Kids Klub. Campers are expected to bring a lunch, morning snack and a water bottle to camp each day. Afternoon snack will be provided. Location: Petaluma Community Center

Adventures in STEM with LEGO? Materials

Ages: 5-7 Let your imagination run wild with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO? parts. Build engineer-designed projects such as: chugging Steamboats, enchanting Moon Bridges, and bustling Airports. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

STEM Foundations with LEGO? Materials

Ages: 8-12 Refine your construction skills as you tinker with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO? parts! Apply real-world concepts through projects such as: chugging Steamboats, customized Cuckoo clocks, and the historic Wright Flyer. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

Robotics Using the LEGO? EV3 System

Ages: 8-12 Build and program robots using the new LEGO? Mindstorms EV3 system! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having fun.

Robotics Using the LEGO? WeDo? System

Ages: 5-7 Build and program robots in this introductory Robotics class using the LEGO? WeDo? system. Learn basic programming skills, simple engineering concepts, and the names of robot components. Work in small groups to complete several projects using tilt and motion sensors. This is a great way to prepare young Robotics enthusiasts for our more advanced Robotics programs.

Mad Science of Mount Diablo is a leading science enrichment provider. We deliver unique, hands-on science experiences for children through after-school programs, birthday parties, workshops, special events, and summer camps. Our innovative programs are as entertaining as they are educational!

My First Lab

Ages: 3-5 Become a junior Mad Scientist! This new camp is a great introduction to science. Preschoolers explore their sense of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Children use a magnifying glass to discover the world of creepy crawly creatures. Explore the science of the sea and the fascinating creatures that live there. Campers become paleontologists by searching for fossils and participating in a mini dinosaur dig. Finally, take an exciting mission with Mad Science to explore the planets, moons and stars. Take-home projects included each day!

Little Green Thumbs

Ages: 3-5 This preschool camp offers children an exciting introduction to basic environmental science. Each session is devoted to different aspects of the garden, allowing children to progressively enrich their understanding of how living things grow and how they interact with the environment around them. Throughout the course children will perform handson experiments, play themed games, and enjoy a snack and story related to the session's themes.

NASA: Journey into Outer Space

Ages: 7-11 From our atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends campers on a quest of exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in this "mad" planetary tour. Learn about the four forces of flight and the challenges of space travel.

Crazy Chemistry

Ages: 7-11 Use your hands as a real Mad Scientist in this whirlwind class on how a lab works! Students will learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up reactive ingredients for some sensational results. We will explore the pH extremes with our Reaction Tubes. We will make slime using the Mad Science recipe and then enter the Slime Olympics to test your polymers. And these are just a few of the crazy chemical reactions that we will explore!

Secret Agent Camp

Ages: 7-11 The Mad Science Secret Agent Camp is a fun journey into the world of detection, spy science, and forensics. Campers will examine the science behind the spy tools made famous by the world's greatest spies! We will reconstruct activities using scientific methods and use the science of cryptology to send and decode secret messages. Kids will get a chance to see what can't be seen by the naked eye and will follow in Sherlock's steps to learn what tracks can tell us!

Jr. Science Academy

Ages: 3-5 During this exciting day of fun, hands-on and interactive programming, our Mad Scientists will take your kindergarten camper on a thrilling journey of amazing scientific discoveries. Through amazing, hands-on experiments and demonstrations the fascinating world of dinosaurs, chemical reactions & bubbling potions, erupting volcanoes, ooey gooey slime, space and much, much more will be explored. Each day children will make cool take-home activities which they will be excited to bring home to show off.

Discover the secrets behind batteries and design marshmallow molecules! Use ooey-gooey ingredients to build a model cell & use your own traits to decode & decipher your DNA. Finally, apply what you learn and apply some crime scene skills to solve a sticky crime!

Ages: 7-11 Sign-up for Mad Science Flight Academy and explore the fundamentals of flight. This action-packed week will focus solely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. Learn characteristics of the planets and discover the wonders of the Milky Way. See how air and wind affect kites, hot air balloons and parachutes. Discover the fundamentals of rocketry, the stages of rocket flight and experiment with huge water rocket launches.

Eureka- The Inventor's Camp

Ages: 7-11 Inventing means curiosity, practicality, necessity, cooperating and dreaming! Join us as we take students on a historical journey with a hands-on approach to learning about some of the worlds' greatest inventors from Leonardo da Vinci to Tesla to Thomas Edison to the Wright Brothers.

Rockin Rockets & Aerodynamics

Ages: 7-11 Let your imagination take flight as we join Sir Isaac Newton and prepare for aerospace adventures with his laws of motion. Design, build, and test fantastic flying creations including kites, planes, rockets, hovercrafts, and more. Experiment with the laws of physics, gravity and motion during this amazing week of hands-on fun.

Red Hot Robots

Ages: 7-11 Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build structures using simple tools and their imaginations. Children will discover how many different machines, simple & complex, we use in our daily lives. Each camper will build robots that you can keep, all the while learning the science of robotics.

Junior Chefs by Wholesome Creations- NEW!

Ages: 6-12 years This cooking camp is a perfect and fun opportunity to introduce children to new ingredients. Each meal is prepared together as a class with organic/vegetarian/ gluten-free/nut-free ingredients. We will re-create favorite dishes into highly nutritious and delicious meals. Junior Chefs will learn about kitchen and knife safety. *Families will receive recipes at the end of the camp. Instructor: Cyrelle McDonald is a certified natural foods chef from Bauman Holistic Nutrition College. She is a Culinary Teacher & Health Educator. Very passionate about serving the local communities, Cyrelle teaches hands-on vegetarian cooking classes with youth in schools in Marin & Sonoma County. She also works as a private chef for families and individuals that seek assistance with shopping/meal planning/ cooking/preparation. Location: Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd
