POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversees the Tribe's Educational Incentive Program to encourage tribal member students to improve and maintain a high level of educational performance and attendance and to provide incentives to those students who do. This position will be responsible for developing the program guidelines for approval by the Tribal Council. It will work closely with parents, faculty and staff to monitor students' progress. This position will also oversee the Sylvan Learning Center Program to assist tribal member students in obtaining educational assistance from the Sylvan Learning Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversees the Tribe's Educational Incentive Program to ensure compliance with applicable program guidelines and/or protocols.

2. Oversees the Sylvan Learning Center Program; arranges testing and enrollment with students and Sylvan staff.

3. Develops program guidelines and/or protocols for the Educational Incentive Program and the Sylvan Learning Center Program and presents them to the Tribal Council for review and approval.

4. Maintains contact with parents and schools. 5. Develops and maintains files for each student, containing grades, attendance,

and report cards and any other information needed to assess a student's eligibility for program incentives. 6. Develops and maintains student file database.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three-months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Requires the ability to operate a typewriter, personal computer, multi-line telephone, calculator, facsimile and photocopier.

hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability

to adjust focus.
