ITEMS OF INTEREST

? The Notice of Candidates for the ATFCU Board of Directors is enclosed with this mailing. The Board is made up of 9 volunteers who serve 3-year terms. Ballots will be mailed to members of record in early March and election results will be announced at the virtual Annual Meeting on or near April 8, 2021.

? The ATFCU website is being redesigned. You'll see the new look around the middle of February. We're telling you ahead of time so you'll know that it's legitimate. All your favorite pages will still be there ? simply in a more updated format.

? The beginning of the year is a good time to see if you have any unclaimed accounts at Claim It Texas. This is the unclaimed property department of the Texas Comptroller's office. Cash from forgotten bank accounts, outdated insurance policies, security deposits and utility refunds eventually finds a home here. Visit to start your search.

? At press time, we don't know if the 2021 tax deadline will be on April 15 or if it will be moved. Whenever it is, TurboTax? will be on the job. You'll find it in both the desktop and mobile versions of digital banking. Simple returns are filed free and there is never a charge until you are completely satisfied with the return. Don't spend your hard-earned money on a software package because you already have free access.

We want to reassure our members that it is a priority to keep the credit union doors open. During the winter it's possible that circumstances will require late openings or reduced hours at different branches. We'll communicate such changes through signage and the ATFCU website and Facebook pages.

Play. During registration you will be asked for your member number and your PIN. For registration purposes, the PIN is the last four digits of the primary member's Social Security Number. Then follow the prompts.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 1

The Abilene Teachers FCU scholarship program recognizes well rounded young members who are graduating from high school in May or June of 2021. Ten honorees will receive $1,500 awards to assist with their first year of college.

Here are the guidelines for interested applicants:

? Applicant has an account at ATFCU in his/her name. It is not sufficient to be listed as a joint owner on a parent's account.

? Applicant is in good standing at the credit union and a member of record as of December 11, 2020.

? Applicant will be a full-time student for the Fall 2021 semester at an accredited college, university or technical college in the United States.

? Applicant is unrelated to an Abilene Teachers FCU employee, Board member or Supervisory Committee member.

Applications are judged based upon academic achievement, activities, employment history and evidence of financial responsibility. References and an essay are also required. Applications will be available electronically on February 1. To access, please navigate to the About page of the ATFCU website, click on the Our Community menu option, and follow the prompts. The application deadline is April 1.

WE DID IT! We made it through the weirdest year most of us have ever experienced. Plans change at a moment's notice, testing our ability to adapt and respond. Early in the fall, we appreciated the opportunity to present an Economic Reality Fair to half of the senior class at Wylie High School. Social distancing and masks allowed us to safely stage an instructive "reality check".

Maybe you saw us at Boo at the Zoo in October. We were privileged to serve as the presenting sponsor for a great event. Stripe (the ATFCU tiger mascot) was passing out candy, posing for pictures, and even chunking a few pumpkins!

Our CU Around team had several projects they worked on during the holiday season. Some of us gathered to `officially' pursue a favorite activity.... shopping! We purchased and donated 66 coats to Jackets of Joy. The team also produced numerous handwritten Christmas cards to deliver to area nursing homes. A `no-visitors' policy made 2020 a dark time for residents so we hoped to provide a small glimmer of joy. Our final project was making 200 snack bags for the UPS employees. We want them to know that we appreciate them all year long and thank them for delivering Christmas to our homes during a pandemic.

I am so looking forward to unveiling our new and improved website in February! You might have seen our photo contest to obtain local photography for the site. We had some great entries and can't wait for you to see them. Stay tuned!
