Santa is Still

Skip

-A-Pay is on the Job in 2020!

Here!

Even if he's wearing a mask this year, we're still expecting Santa, gifts and socially-distanced holiday events. The holiday season is famous for knocking a hole in the family budget, making Skip-A-Pay a popular option for many. Members in good standing can elect to skip one or two loan payments during the months of November, December, and January. There is a $15 charge for each skipped payment. ATFCU accumulates the fees, then donates the total to The Boys and Girls Club of Abilene.

Skip-A-Payment was introduced in 2003 and since that time Abilene Teachers FCU members have donated more than $2 million to B&GCA. An entire generation of children has

benefitted from this win-win-win partnership.

There are several ways to enter skip payment requests. When using your mobile device, tap the `More' icon to get started. If you're using a computer, login and locate the Skip-A-Pay section on the online banking landing page. If you prefer the tried and true ways, please give us a call or drop by a branch to get the process underway.

Timing is important! If your loan payment is being made automatically from an outside financial institution OR from another account at ATFCU, please initiate your skip request or contact us at least 5 business days in advance of your payment date so that the proper loan modifications can be completed.

If you have set up your own incoming loan payment using ATFCU digital banking, remember to cancel payments that are already scheduled for the requested month(s).

Skip payments are subject to ATFCU approval and are not available for real estate, home equity, home improvement, overdraft, line of credit or credit card loans. New loans that have not had at least one full monthly payment are ineligible. Full insurance coverage must be in effect for vehicle loans.

Other restrictions may apply. Payment skips or extensions will affect interest accrual, final payoff date, GAP settlements and equity in collateral.

CUT THE WIRES!

Inter-Institution Transfers Now Available in Digital Banking

There's a new feature in digital banking that's going to be a great help if you need to transfer money between your accounts at ATFCU and accounts you may have at other banks or credit unions within the United States. We call it External Transfers and it's ready to go in both mobile and desktop banking.

To get started, gather your account and routing numbers for the external financial institution(s). Ensure that the information is accurate. Then find `External Transfers' in the `More' section of mobile banking and/or in the `Move Money' section of desktop banking. Follow the prompts to enter the external accounts you wish to use.

Within three business days, the program will make two small transfers (less than $1) from your ATFCU account to the external account(s) specified. When you next access the External Transfers screen, you'll be asked to verify your external account(s) by entering the two transfer amounts. Once you've completed this step, you can make one-time transfers or set up recurring transfers on weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedules.

There is no charge when you transfer money from an outside account to Abilene Teachers FCU. If you're sending money from ATFCU to an outside financial institution, a $4.50 fee is involved. Since the current domestic wire fee is $15, the use of external transfers offers considerable savings. External transfers can be scheduled on weekdays that are not federal banking holidays. They are not available on weekends.

For more information, please contact our Member Information Center at 325-677-2274 (800-677-6770) or speak to a Member Services representative at any branch location.

CCoomnnmeuctnioitnys with Elizabeth Gray

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but the summer of 2020 has not gone as expected or planned. Vacations have looked different, camps were cancelled, and school uncertainty are just a few issues challenging most of us. Yes, life looks different but there have been bright moments. I know for many there have been more family nights together, saving money on all the `extras' that are not options at the present, and designing creative ideas for celebrations. We have also taken this time to work on our budget, home projects, and planning for the future. All good things!

At ATFCU, we have continued with the #OperationEatLocal campaign and have had a blast reading the comments about your favorite dishes at the featured eatery. Since the beginning of July, we have featured 18 local eateries and given out 54 gift cards. The restaurants appreciate everyone's participation and patronage. We just love random acts of kindness that involve free food!

Uncertain school openings prevented our normal school supply drive. That being said, when I received a call in midAugust from Darrin Cox, the AISD Homeless Youth Liaison, asking for help with school supplies, the CU Around group was ready. After getting a list of needed supplies, the shopping commenced. You may have seen us at Wal-Mart struggling to push baskets FULL of paper and other supplies! Man, did I get a workout!

Teachers, I can provide financial education opportunities onsite or virtually. Contact me at egray@ to discuss your plans and how I might assist.
