Test Preparation Resources

CSET

The CSETs are the most common way to fulfill the Subject Matter Competency Requirement. Please see our Application Handbook for more information on this requirement and the specific subtests you will need to take for your credential.

The CSETs are designed to test your knowledge of the subject matter you will be teaching. Please be sure to give yourself plenty of time to prepare for taking the subtests and think carefully about how many subtests to take at the same time. Be aware that if you do not pass a subtest, you need to wait 45 days before retaking an exam. Consider factors like your preparation, your test taking abilities and preferences, the amount of time designated to each subtest, and when you need to pass the subtests in order to decide what will be best for you.

In general, we recommend spacing out your testing to better prepare for each subtest and therefore decreasing your likelihood of needing to retake.
