Here’s how you can help support #DayOfTheTeacher 2020 on social media!California Day of the Teacher, May 13, 2020Theme: California Teachers: Inspiring GenerationsGoal for Social Media: CTA will use Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, plus CTA’s website and , to provide information and awareness about #DayOfTheTeacher to our members. The main goal is to generate engagement leading up to, during and after May 13, so educators across California will feel the love of their community on social media. We encourage CTA leaders to work with local school and college districts to promote the Day of the Teacher. And we encourage members to use their own social media platforms and local chapter pages to promote content celebrating teaching, K-14. Create your own content/Share CTA’s content:Visit dayoftheteacher -- Download and share the 2020 poster, TV spots, social media cover and profile photos, gifs and memes.For the week preceding May 13, post photos and shout outs to your favorite teachers and faculty.Change your profile and cover photos on social media.Share on your social media the amazing things your members have done for students and the community during this pandemic. Highlight members who have generations of teachers in their family. Publicly thank retiring teachers for their dedication and commitment to their students, the profession and to your union. Ask your followers to do the same. Check out stories on CTA’s blog - – that you can share on your local social media.If you’re a fan, highlight the fact that famed social justice artist Ricardo Levins Morales designed this year’s California Day of the Teacher poster, check out his website and share. He also created a coloring book to help students and youngsters deal with the pandemic.?Use the hashtags #DayOfTheTeacher and #WeAreCTA when you create tweets and posts to spread the word about Day of the Teacher events and stories. Remember to use your local association’s hashtag if you have one. We will be monitoring the hashtags and will retweet the posts we see that are using the hashtags.
