ATI TEAS Entrance Exam

What is the TEAS?

The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is a standardized test designed specifically to

assess a student's preparedness for entering the health science fields. Questions are designed to

test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math,

Science, and English and Language Usage.

Why do I have to take the TEAS?

The ATI TEAS has been statistically proven to be a valid predictor of early nursing school success.

Your score on the TEAS is one measure of academic preparedness that helps Jefferson College

consider your acceptance into our nursing program.

What does the TEAS exam consist of?

The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions that are formatted as both multiple choice items

with 4 answer options and alternate-type items. This includes 150 scored questions and 20

unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam.

What score do I need to achieve in order to apply to the program?

In a single attempt, you must complete Reading, Mathematics, Science and English and

earn a minimum composite score of 58.7% in order to be considered for admission. Do

not submit your application to the Jefferson College Bi-Level Nursing Program until you have

achieved the required admission scores on the TEAS.

If you score below 58.7% overall, remediation and retake will be required. Students can

retake the ATI TEAS once every 60 days. During the waiting period students are strongly

encouraged to remediate the areas they scored basic or developmental. A Focused Review

is available in your ATI account.

Jefferson College will not accept test scores taken prior to the end of the two坼month

waiting period, regardless of the score obtained or location taken.

How long are my scores good for?

ATI TEAS scores are valid for two (2) years prior to the program start date (not the

application due date) the applicant is applying for.

What are the steps to testing?

After you have studied and prepared for the exam you are ready to test.

The ATI TEAS exam is proctored and may be completed at our Jefferson College

Hillsboro and Arnold campuses. Testing Center information can be found here.

As a reminder, students must wait 60 days between ATI TEAS

assessments.



Appointments are not required; walk-ins for the ATI TEAS are welcome.



If testing accommodations are required, please contact the Accessibility

Resource Office to schedule the TEAS entrance exam.

Student ID number is not required.

Testing fee must be paid in the Cashier's Office prior to testing. If the

Cashier*s office is closed, exact cash payment may be accepted by the

testing center proctor.

Valid Driver*s License

Once in the testing room, you will be provided with your product exam ID for the

assessment.

What if I have a documented disability and need special services for

testing?

If you have a disability that requires an accommodation, register with the Accessibility

Resource Office prior to testing. Documentation will be required. Please note if you have any

required accommodations when scheduling your exam.



Walk-ins are not allowed if accommodations are being utilized. Please schedule

your exam in coordination with the Disability Support Services office.

What if I have already taken the TEAS at another location?

Jefferson College will accept TEAS scores from other testing locations within the two year

time frame. Your TEAS test report will need to be officially transferred to Jefferson College

from ATI before we will accept your scores. To have your TEAS report sent to Jefferson

College, please contact ATI at 1坼800坼667坼7531 or visit their website here. There may be a

fee associated with transferring a transcript.

How should I prepare for the TEAS exam?

There are a variety of prep resources available to help you study for the test, both free and

for purchase. All products align to the ATI TEAS, Version 7 and are packed with thousands

of practice questions based on the content and format of the actual exam. The ATI TEAS

Study Manual contains content review and practice tests.

ATI recommends that you allow yourself at least six weeks to prepare for the

exam.

Study manuals are available for purchase on the ATI website and are also available for one

week check-out at the Jefferson College Library. Optional Online TEAS Practice Tests, ATI

TEAS SmartPrep, and TEAS Basic Packages are available for purchase through the ATI

website, but are not required.
