‘Understanding and Working with Teenage Violence to Parents’

An Awareness Raising Training Event

1st March 2012 at Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield, WF4 3QZ

Time 9.30am to 4.30pm

Teen Violence to Parents is an emerging but predominant social concern that has been silent for decades.

Is this a:

• Criminal Matter?

• Parenting Issue?

• Safeguarding concern?

• Is this simply the missing link in inter-generational violence?

• Or are there other factors that cause teenagers to behave in such a way?

Why is this hidden and what can be done about it?

The day will include contributions from professionals engaged in this newly emerging practice and research field:

• Domestic Abuse Services

• Police

• Youth Justice

• Restorative Practices

• Special Guest Speakers: An opportunity to meet and listen to real life stories from parents who have experienced TVP.

An Interactive opportunity to explore:

• Current responses from services.

• Case studies from existing and good practice models.

• Partnership working.

• Working restoratively with this issue.

Feedback from past delegates:

“I now have a much clearer understanding of the issues and can be more objective in my working practice as a result of today’s training” C. Exley, Education Welfare Service, Wakefield

“really useful for making me feel more confident about working with young people who show aggression, and how I can make use of restorative skills I already have” E. Lowe, Remedi, Barnsley
